Stressful day

Kate

Recommended Posts

I had a very stressful day today at work and was craving very bad right before I left work.  Had company coming in for the weekend which didn't help as things can be very hectic.  They have gone out for a while so I am starting to relax.  I think I will get through today. No smoking here ?

Hi Kate, sorry for your hard day but it will get easier with time, I promise :) Venting here is a great way to get it off your chest and get some encouragement. You're doing great :)

Hey Kate I also feel for you for having the tough day but it looks like you have the right attitude and keeping strong.  Coming here is one of the best things for you when your having a difficult time and craving, just remember the crave will pass -- and it does get better with time.

Yes Kate! You're doing great! It's very early on in your quit and the quit symptoms are often overwhelming at times. That coupled with the normal day to day sh*t life throws at us tests our resolve - no question about it but, smoking wouldn't help. You know that if you really think about it. Having one now would just destroy all the hard work you have put in so far. You would feel terrible about that after the first puff. That would only add to your problems.

Be proud of how far you have come because it's no piece of cake this quitting. All that other stuff going on in your life will happen anyway. This quitting thing ........ you and you alone control. Be proud that you have made all the right choices this past week :)

Well done Kate... So ya know how blokes have a wank bank... A little rollerdex of memories to help them when their shaking hands with the unemployed?.... well you need to store up the memory of this crappy day an put it in ya NOPE bank... This memory will remind you of how strong you are and how crappy an stressful today was and you still NOPED..... You kept your quit... Be so proud of this achievement and vent away when you need.

Hooray Kate!! This is how quits are made...one hurdle at a time! Make sure to reward yourself (smoking would release dopamine) for all your hard work; eat a chocolate, spritz your fav perfume, walk your garden...find that happy thing and use it to get that same release.

ETQ!

And that's how it's done.

You had a stressful day.  Felt a craving for a cigarette.  Didn't smoke.  And the craving passed...they always do.

Cravings are temporary and the thoughts associated with them only have what power you give them.  There is not one aspect of quitting that is to be feared.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
