·         What could possibly make me miss key moments in my kid’s lives so I could duck outside for 10 minutes?

·         What could possibly make me decline an entertaining evening (movie, sporting event, concert, etc.) because it required me to be somewhere for 2-3 hours?

·         What could possibly make me not care how offensive I smelled to my friends, family, and colleagues?

·         What could possibly make me lie to those I love? (Closet smoking, false quit claims)

·         What could possibly make me go back for more, even though it made me feel like $hit?

It’s hard to fathom that there was ever an answer to any of these questions.  I’m just grateful that I don’t even have to bother trying anymore.

So true! Nicotine addiction is so insidious....my whole life before quitting revolved around "when can I smoke?" Now when I walk into an elevator at work, I know if a smoker has been in it....because it stinks!!!

Nicotine addiction doesn't make logical sense but we all know it made us do things we wouldn't otherwise do. How lucky we are to be away from it or moving away from it.

Biggest benefit of being quit as far as I'm concerned. No longer am I literally a slave to my addiction. I am now free to do more meaningful things!

When we smoked, yeah our lifestyle had to adjust for it.

I am one of those "me first" types so smoking never really interfered with much of my life. I do not live my life according to the whims or wishes of others so if someone didn't like that I smoked, they knew where the door was.

I guess the "slave" part that made me quit was I often thought of "what if i ended up hospitalized or in jail or something that I was forced to quit even for a few days?"

You don't ever think things will happen but you never know.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
