Hello all and thanks for hosting us folks that were drifting in the cyber void that was our previous quit smoking board. It was strange how important the board was to me once I realized it was gone.

I had asked what I thought was an important question and then *poof* I couldn't get back into the board. This started me on a bit of a weird 'champix withdrawl' induced tailspin over the weekend.

I did not relapse, but I found it very disconcerting not having my outlet (the board) available to me, almost made me feel a little lost.

I see some familiar faces filter over, and having read a little of the board, I feel that this 'new' home is going to be just fine.

So thank you in advance for the warm welcome and the patients that you'll extend to us 'newbies' as we find our way around.

Peace

R

Again welcome RoryPlog.  Yes I have found this board to be very important in my quit.  There is so much knowledge and material here to help with my quit.  Also the people here are so helpful if not a little out there -- but hey it helps.  Seriously the people have helped me greatly during my quit.  Sorry about the other site but we are here ready and willing to share and help.  And by the way from the quit date that you posted we quit on the same date -- great job on your quit so far.

I remember your question Rory. Is your Chantix gone, or do you still have a few doses? (Which way did you decide to go?) How are you doing?

No relapsing allowed. :12_slight_smile: Coming off the Chantix is challenging, but very doable. I did it and so can you! Hang tough.

Thanks for remembering Lin.

I didn't know what to do. I waited patiently for a few answers and I googled which no one should ever do when it comes to health care. The board went down and I sort of froze. I think I took a pill that night and then just stopped (that would be Friday night and it is Monday morning now). The weekend (I was working) was a little surreal. I had to fight down a bit of anxiety (or whatever you want to call it). On a funny note, I likely checked to see if the board was back up every half hour or so.

I'm not sure exactly what is going on, whether I'm fighting the champix withdrawl (cold turkey), in parallel with a bit of 'quit smoking remorse'. Or if I'm just working myself up into a frenzy for nothing. I know I feel odd, or out of sorts, head ache (mild like a hum and a bit of pressure), appetite is off (stomach feeling odd), but I also know that having a smoke will not make that better.

I am done work in just over a week for about six weeks. I am looking forward to just chilling out, maybe going to see a doctor, and playing with my dogs while I wait for spring.

Peace

R

The folks already on the Quit Train understand your fears...and feel your disappointment ,the place you felt safe just dissapeared....

Very early in my own quit.being with friends was very important..

There are quite a few of your friends here now..hoping this will make it easier for you to settle down here...

We are a family here..who care for the folks who board the train...let us help you to Freedom.....

Other than the anxiety you pretty much described my own symptoms coming off the Chantix.  You're doing great by knowing that smoking will do nothing to help what you are feeling, quite the opposite. It will make you feel much much worse. Hang in there. You will very likely feel much better within a few days.

And the anxiety might be exacerbated by losing your support group so suddenly. But we have a new one here!

It's too bad you ran out, but the Chantix did what it was supposed to: it got you to the point where you now know you can do without smoking. You can take it from here Rory. In just a few short months you will likely before "over the hump" and everything will be so much easier. One day at a time. Deep breathing and cold water and exercise and hard candies. You know the drill. :12_slight_smile:

Good to see you here Rory. I know how you felt on not being able to access the board, it sent me into a tailspin too. I kept trying to get on with no luck, it was scary.  Thankfully we have been warmly welcomed here.

I’m glad you found this place Rory. Linquitting advice is sound. I didn’t do Chantix but I certainly had weird anxiety feelings and other weird feelings. They did pass for me as everyone has said.

Hey Rory Plog,

I certainly remember your postings on the QSMB. I also remember you were just getting ready to quit cold turkey. I think that was you.

You are awesome for finding these great quit train folks to help you along your quit journey whilst our “home” site repairs. I am with you Rory!

Hey @RoryPlog, I must have missed your message before the old place died, but I've quit using Chantix more than once, and I can't figure out from reading this thread what's going on, or what your question(s) is/are.  What's the Reader's Digest version, if you don't mind?

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
