Hi all,

I guess you've seen a number of refugees from another forum recently. I found my way here as members had always spoken in glowing terms of this one.

A little about me.

6 weeks quit after 35 years smoking and if I'm honest still finding it quite a struggle. It is my first (and I'm determined to be only) attempt to quit smoking.

The daily Nope pledge has been significant in getting me through a number of tough days so far, as has the distraction of playing games with friends in forums.

Hope to make a positive contribution here!

Welcome Sslip, glad to have you aboard.  I to am a recent quitter, just a little over 7 weeks now after 44 years of smoking.  I can agree with you that it can be quite a struggle but it gets a little better every week.  Those on this forum will help you get through this they have for me.  It's great that you have 6 weeks now keep up the good work.  And remember to do your "NOPE" pledge each day it really does help it has for me.

Welcome, Sslip!  The rough patches get fewer and further between. Don't make the mistake I made (in past failed quits) of thinking you "should" be somewhere different or feeling something different from what you really are. You are where you are, you feel what you're feeling and that's that. You'll get to the point of feeling comfortable and glad you quit as long as you don't smoke. That's the main thing. Hang onto your quit and NOPE!  Best wishes, PeaceTrain

Thanks the pledge has been crucial for me and the last couple of days it had been nagging at me that I hadn't made a commitment.

I don't mind the idea of wobbling, as long as I can keep my balance. And I'm in the garden of England, just on the Kent/London borders.

Thanks, I'm trying to be patient and I know looking back a couple of weeks I'm in a better place, I'm sure it will come good.

I'm sorry all you people have lost your original base camp, so to speak but; we here are doing the same thing you people are all doing and therefore - it seems like a no-brainer to me that this should work to the advantage of all of us!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
