I am only writing to vent.....well...because this is my group and you're stuck with me

Dog 2 was sick 3 months ago...IV fluids and IV antibiotics ....$1,000....he recovered (age 5)

Dog 1 a week later...develops the same symptoms..lethargic but also peeing blood, vomiting blood, and excreting blood...many multiple days of IV fluids and antibiotics....and a rug and bed destroyed from the mess....the dog didn't recover....had to put him down.  Total cost - $3500.  (age 6)

Dog 3 new puppy...immediately notice a strange thing growing on his head..surgery indicated as it great at a fast rate.  Cancer... 4 months old.  Incision on his head is HUGE and keeps filling up with fluid and we have to keep going back to get it drained.  another 800 bucks so far.  did i also mention he has ear mites??  more treatment...and because he is so young...getting cancer now may indicate it may be genetic and it could pop up somewhere else

Dog 1 has been acting "strange" for the past few days and today...diarrhea all over the carpet...vomited on my bed...and he's once again lethargic...just laying there.

I don't know how much more I can take.  It's heartbreaking and I am sorry to bring money up...but I"m not rich.  My house smells like poop...and I had just shampooed my entire house last weekend.

Sorry to whine......and thanks for being here

wow that sucks......are the pups from the same breeder? or is it a breed specific issue?

It does become expensive.....my "free" dog lady has chronic pancreatitis we found out finally after several visits when she was a pup finally was diagnosed after vomiting blood and blood tests revealed a really high amalyse levels. after round of antibiotics and starving her for 24 she became better now we have to watch what she eats(shes a dog she eats what she can find on ground, in carpet sometimes the garbage and oh did I mention the litter box sigh) because if her belly starts bothering her she pukes violently at least three times (why 3 IDK) if we are fast enough we can get her outside to puke then we have to go out there and clean up her puke out of the yard because you guessed it she will eat her puke sigh......vicious cycle. I was worried that she had something more serious than that at least it is manageable for now. I didnt mention the stitches she needed when she ripped her leg open severing a vein on I dont know what outside. Hubs did 70 all the way to the vet......I wish that it did not cost so much to do what you need to for your pups......I understand the money thing it is a struggle mentally and emotionally.

Babs. I am so sorry to hear this.  You must be so devastated.  They are part of your family, no doubt about it. But the money situation is so real and not many people have that kind of cash.  I know I wouldn't. I hope for the best and find a speedy recovery. (((Babs))).

when has flare ups we have to take her food away for 24 hours than feed her hamburger and rice 2 tablespoons at a time every 2-3hrs for a day....boil the hamburger too for less grease.that is the vet recommendation and we give her kaopectate sp? per vet orders.

Sorry about your animals Babs, I can certainly feel your pain.

It's been two months now and I still haven't got all the ear mites out of my cats.

I feel so powerless.

I am sure am sorry, Babs.  We feel so helpless when our four legged fmaily members are sick.  Sometimes I wish they could talk so they could tell us what hurts.  This is heartbreaking.

Babs - practical advice...none whatsoever. Here in UK you can insure pets - but frankly that is F all use to you now...

Sorry - big hugs and hope he perks up soon...

awwwwww so sorry,,, i love dogs so much, but its frustrating..... i know..

my shep has colitis.. so every now and then, she gets a flare up, and has the icky poopers... nothing we can do, we dont give her people food, she eats good food, Iams Healthy naturals, and still had issues.....

i hope you get a break in your wallet, sometimes you have to draw the line, as hard as it is... family has to be taken care of too..

i know my hubby would never allow us to spend that much on our furbaby..yours are younger, so i get that, but ours is almost 13..

hang in there....

Babs...I am so sorry for your pups!  I hope things get better soon for you.  My sister has insurance for her dog.  I think she pays about $700 per year.  She said it has helped as her pup has had many problems.

I'm so sorry Babs :(    It's so hard when our fur babies are sick.  I cannot believe the puppy is so sick so early in life.  It's crazy.  I would think the vet could figure out what is going on with the older one.  It's insane to charge you that much money with no answer.  I pray things improve.
