Literally..... Warning TMI Alert.....

So I have tried quitting once before... But I don't like to count it because I cheated.... A puff here a puff there..... Nothing more than 1/2 a cigarette a day.... But still smoking. What broke me 100% of that quit was the extreme constipation (and severe withdrawal symptoms since I'd still have a puff here or there) I am 100% devoted to this quit... It's my first true quit ever...where my body has not had any nicotine in any form in 2 weeks. The constipation is better... Still not where I was pre-quit days, but better. But the gas is bad....reeeeeaaall bad. I'm glad I got rid of the cigarette smell...but this is bad, too!!! It's only a bonus when someone pisses me off and I can walk by and crop dust their asses! Otherwise it's really annoying and embarrassing.

Anyone else experience "digestive issues" ???

I carnt remember experiencing this problem..

Read up ,what foods are best to be avoided,at the moment..maybe eat smaller portions ,more often..

Boo might be able to help ,he's the poop expert around here..

Im suffering at the moment ,due to gall stones, and find beetroot is a life saver..

I'm sure it's a temporary thing..your still early in your quit..and your body is trying to adjust to the new you..

Keep going ..farting never killed anyone ( others maybe ).smoking will...x

I had some constipation in the first month too.  Eventually, things settled back to normal.  Farting was never an issue though. And even if it had been, mine smell like a spring meadow after a refreshing rainfall.

Pretty common symptom for quitters.  Typically issues related to gas and constipation clear up within 2-4 weeks.

Drink plenty of water.

While it is advisable to cut back on caffeine when you quit, cutting it out entirely during the early days of a quit will slow digestion down.  People who quit nicotine and caffeine at the same time are quite often bound up tighter than Dick's hatband for a couple of weeks.

Exercise is great for digestion as well.  You don't need to do anything hardcore, just a simple walk-around will do.

And...if you're a fan of parlor tricks, you have a new use for any old lighters laying around.

I didn't experience those issues in particular so can't really add anything of value but quit related symptoms seem to be as varied as you can imagine but the good news is, they all seem to resolve themselves sooner or later. Any disruptions to your "normal" routine is temporary whereas the benefits from quitting will be permanent. I had some pretty annoying symptoms as well but most have resolved at this point.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
