Quitting smoking is easy. Staying smoke free is a challenge sometimes.

You are still learning how to deal with life without that trusty "friend" we relied on for so long. Guess what? What you are doing today is strength training. Will only make you stronger sister!!

You won't smoke. You are a non smoker

Let me say congrats to you in advance for getting thru this day. :)

Rachael,

How are you feeling right now?  A cigarette will not change anything except make you angry with yourself a little later on.  It's tough, but hang on.  Once you get past this, you will have strengthened your quit.

Hugs racheal, You dont want to smoke truly you dont it is just the stress trigger......sometimes coping with the stupidity of others can be the most difficult thing to do but it isnt worth smoking trust us......breathe deep walk away if you can go somewhere and scream, cry, yell, jump up and down, throw a tantrum what ever you need to release the stress then get through your day and when you get home take a nice long hot bath with some candles and release  your stresses for the day let go of the thoughts and feelings for a bit, just relax.   We have to learn new ways of coping with these things all the time it wont be the first one and it wont be the last but each time you  make it through to the other side you become stronger and stronger you are strong  you can do it  you got this!!!!

Rachael don't throw this quit away, it so not worth it, youv'e got this far and you know this feeling will pass, its a thought, just don't give it room to grow, you will regret it and for what a 2 second buzz, then you will be back too square one.....errr I think NOT.

Maybe it's a crappy advice, but perhaps dont pretend that your are fine with them or whatever is that is bothering you. Let them know,(before you implode), scream at them, punch them, whatever is appropriate for the situation and doesn't get you sued.

Just don't smoke, you know it won't make anything better.

sorry everyone.  I got off work and went running immediately.  I had too.  I was too pissed and its the only thing that helps me expect punching people...which someone suggested...but since it was a work environment I thought better of it.  so I just stewed for the last couple hours.  I know that cigarettes do nothing... and when I said id just have one I meant I so would have one right then...I know it wouldnt be just one.  I didnt really want one ...they were just there and available and I was pissed off.  but of course I decided not to and to instead cancel the plans I made after work so I could go for a run.  which was amazing.  Sorry for late reply...couldn't reply at work could only read the messages you sent me on here.  Sorry if you are still up action and thank you all for the replies.  I think now I will eat some junk food.

We are all connected Rachael, don't scare us like that. Make a plan to deal with those you work with so you're not in this position again.

was not my intention to scare or worry anyone.  Sometimes there is no plan other than to bitch.  and at that time I was thinking about cigarettes.  I stated in my first post that I probably wasnt going to have one.  Almost posted it in off the record and probably should have.  I am normally just fine as I have never posted anything with the lines of SOS ever... and have never posted in an SOS forum until today.  Next time ill just be more cautious about what I post.  sorry to have worried anyone.  everyone have a great night.

The word "probably" means you did EXACTLY the right thing. Now you have practice and can do it again if needed!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
