I have my friend's husband staying with us at the moment.  He is a smoker.  My house smells so much even though he only smokes outside.  I went into his bedroom earlier to make his bed and vacuum and the smell is awful just from his clothes that are in there.

Did I used to smell like that?  My word!!!

I remember wondering if people who didn't smoke could tell that I did smoke when they got in my car (that of course I smoked in) - Of course they did! I was the one who couldn't smell it.

I was a closet smoker or at least I thought I was BUT clearly they all knew by the stench! One of the many benefits of quitting is how much better everything smells!

Yep, we all smelled like that even though we didn't think that we did.

We thought that we were covering it up with perfume and gum but we weren't. I can smell a smoker from a mile away and its gross.

I can also smell the ones that try to mask it.

There is no way on earth you can cover that smell up..

I honestly thought I could hide the stench but after I quit, I realized how preposterous this truly was. The stench of walking death was embedded in my skin. Nasty!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
