You're in the thick of it now Parsley! You're doing great. You have a couple of days in now so keep moving forward and maintain your determination to take control of this addiction. You'll soon start to see the benefits of your determined fight :)

Damn...good launch..but...struggling so bad...feel like I...don't know..

Parsley, you can do this!  One minute at a time if necessary.  If you smoke, you will have to start all over.  It is okay to cry, scream, rant, rave, shower until the hot water runs out, eat everything issight, punch inanimate objects...any thing but smoke.  Our Paul once said that you have to care for your quit as if it were a newborn infant...treasure it, be gentle with it, and protect it with your life.

The early days are not easy that's for sure Parsley. We have all been there and experienced first hand what you are now going through in the first week of your quit. That's why it's called "Hell Week". As Nancy said, do whatever you have to do to maintain and protect your early quit. The struggle you are going through right now will not last forever. Things will gradually start getting better and much less intense but, you have to power through these early days and set your sights on the prize that is yours for the taking - a smoke free life :) You can do this!!

Do what you have to do..just don't smoke...you don't want to be back at the start..

Come here ..read ,moan..post...xxx

It will get better Parsley! Just hang in there a little longer. You'll soon be over the very worst of it, and it will just keep getting better from there on. It really is worth it. Scream, cry, eat, take a shower, walk, do whatever it is you have to, just don't smoke. You've made so much progress and you don't want to start again. Just get through. Be kind to yourself. You can do this!! Soon, this struggle will just be a distant memory if you keep going. xx

It's the challenging moments that make you stronger.  Those moments in the early days of the quit, when the cravings feel intense and your mind is consumed with thoughts of smoking, are the times when you build a steely resolve that will serve you well in the future.

On the road to a better way of living, you will encounter some bumps and obstacles along the way.  The journey is well worth the challenge.  Drive on.

Everyone has it in them Parsley. It's the addiction talking to you now in these early days. Has nothing to do with how strong we are just the addiction is still fresh and is screaming at you to satisfy it again. Don't do it! The longer you deny the addiction, the weaker it gets and you'll soon turn the tables on it and YOU will be calling the shots. Stay strong for at least the first week. Live minute by minute if need be. Don't look too far down the road right now. Hour by hour, and day by day for now. Yes it's tough and it can drain all your energy but you can get through it. Withdrawal won't kill you - smoking might though. Stay with us Parsley. We've all been right where you are at this moment and we are no different from you. We came through the withdrawal and so can you! We're cheering for you :)

You've got this Parsley!!  It's all going to be ok - just keep going. Bitch, rage, cry, scream, swear. It's all good! :)

My first few days were awful!! I hid in bed, ate tangerines, read everything here over and over and cursed that I ever started smoking. I thought I would feel that horrible, miserable and in a constant state of wanting a smoke forever. But, guess what? That passed! Within a few days, it got better. It wasn't perfect, but better!!

And from that moment, it just kept getting better. This is tough, and it feels horrid, but it's just for a little tiny bit in the scheme of things. Think of how long you smoked for, right? This is a short, short, short, intense, but short, transition into something so much better. Just stick with it for a little bit longer. You will start to feel a tiny bit of relief and then a little more and more still.

I'm barely over a month, and now, I have the odd smoking thought - not even a craving - and it passes really fast. You'll be amazed how fast you start to feel better. Distract yourself. I went out with a friend on the weekend. We were out for hours and not once did I think of smoking! A month ago, I never thought that would EVER happen. I would go out with friends, and within an hour, in the back of my head, I'd be looking for a break in the conversation so I could excuse myself to go smoke. But not this past weekend! :) Stick with it. Surprise yourself. You'll be so so glad you did. Think of all the positives coming your way.

Do whatever you need to do to not smoke. Because the sooner you get through this short stage, the better you are going to feel. If you go back to smoking, you'll have to do this stage again. And that just makes the suffering last longer. If you hang on just a bit longer, you'll be out the other side, and it will get easier. Every day you don't smoke, it gets easier. Sending you big HUGS!! You've got this!!!!!  :)

Keep at it!  You did the biggest part and that's deciding its time to quit.  It's easy from there on out :)

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
