Hey guys!

I´ve been missing for a few days due to a horrible experience with Zyban (bupropion).

I started with a dosage of 150 mg and everything was fine but when the doctor doubled my dosage to get the aid with quitting smoking effect I went totally manic. This wasn´t a nice euphoria when you feel happy and that´s it. This was a "I´ll fly through the roof" euphoria. So my husband called the doctor and he told me to stop taking Zyban totally and that sent me into terrible depression. I´ve battled with depression before and this is a big one.

I just wanted to let you guys know how I´m doing and let newcomers and lurkers know that Zyban might sound like a great idea for quitting but it can have nasty side effects. I´m not saying this will happen to everybody but it´s what happened to me.

Hugs!

-Nat

I was wondering where you had got to. Sorry you've had a bad experience with it. I have heard that some people do and other's don't. Like all things, it works for some and not for others. I hope you start feeling better soon and stick with your quit Nat. Please check in with us & let us know how you're doing :)

What an awful experience!  Thanks for checking in and letting us know you're still here.

I did not react well to Zyban, either.  Vertigo to the point I wasn't safe to drive.  Or walk, really.

There is no magic bullet to quitting.

That's horrible, Natalie.  Wellbutrin XL helped me a lot but at the end of the day, it's still us making the decision not to smoke because the meds, even when they work, are only temporary.  Glad you're better! :)

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
