I was thinking how much I have changed in the last year or two (I am talking mentally not physically lol) and all of the things I had to re-learn or retrain myself on. I had to relearn how to cope with stress-still working on that one even after all this time lol. I had to relearn how to control my anger-turns out I have a temper which I just stifled with a cig previously but now I breathe it out or remove myself from the situation, I have had to learn how to cope with loss as some of you know I lost 3 family members and 2 furbabies this winter. There are many things I have had to learn how to do without cigs and I am doing it and so can you.  Because you are never too old to learn new things :) never too late to change, change is good and change might be scary but it is soooo worth it. The early struggles are few and far between, I hardly even think of it except when I come here or when I realize I just did something that I used to always had to smoke with and I do not have to. I also believe that I have an anxiety disorder that I have to deal with because before I would self-medicate with a cig when I felt anxious which was the wrong thing to do and pretty stupid especially since nicotine raises your heartrate that is not going to make anxiety better.

Make a choice for your life -QUIT TODAY, do not put it off another day you can do it and it is worth it and you are worth it.

That is great Lisa!  That is such a healthier way to deal with stress than turning to a cigarette.  Oh- I am sure my husband would tell you that I have a tiny temper also- just saved for him ;) .

Great post Lisa, and so true.

As a smoker, I thought I could never 'get through' things/life/etc without my little crutch.

I never thought I'd be able to handle them.

Low and behold, we can, and it's actually easier without the added stress that comes with being an addict.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
