What you doing for Christmas Day?

Well for us, it's the first Christmas Tracey and I will be together so getting up Christmas morning opening presents together will be very special for us!

We have a Christmas eve party to go to first at one of Tracey's friends house after she gets home from work. Tracey has made an awesome Christmas day meal for my mum and I which includes lots of appetizers and a big ham with all the fixings, yum yum! My mum is spending the night on Christmas eve so that's going to be nice for her & interesting for us! Our three furry kids got their stockings full of toys and treats too. I can't wait for Christmas afternoon laying on the couch with a full belly and a drink after doing the dishes when all the craziness of preparing for this day is done and we can be lazy and relax! If any energy left at the end of the day, we might stop in at the Rock Casino to get out of the house for a bit.

PS - for now lots and lots of wrapping to do!

Sounds fabulous Rex, as you say how fabulous and special as it's your first one together...and as man and wife, just beautiful.

Lee has finished work and on his way to pick his mother up, she's staying with us the year. My parents are in a Tenerife for another eight weeks so will no doubt get a phone call from them.

All together for Christmas Eve and our tradition of Chinese take away and secret Santa. Boxing Day onwards Lee, and the girls, are back off to work so will be making the most of the time we are all together.

Just made a shepherds pie (Tracey may have made you one?) for dinner when Barb turns up.

I will be riding the rails for the holidays. So if you hear a lonely train horn in the distance on Christmas eve or day, it might be me :)

Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year To All

Go Patriots!

My dad rang from the Internet cafe just after dinner. Having a great time out there however the weather isn't its usual best. Still...I'd rather be there.

Cook the turkey today, peel veg and drop the girls off to their Saturday jobs. Must get the prawns out of the freezer too! It's the little things like that, that I forget. Have a great day whatever you are all doing.

We start Christmas Eve as this is my favourite part :)  So nice munchies in the morning and late lunch of Pizza (kids favourite), then off to the Panto to see Alladdin at 5.30 where we stuff sweets and chocs and then bounce off the ceiling shouting oh yes he did, oh no he didn't etc etc.

Tomorrow I have the children till 3pm, my Dad, stepmum and Grandma are coming to me for the first year ever (as no mum anymore). I'm excited to share it with my Dad. Then drop the kids to their Dad at 3pm and off to work until 9pm as a waitress. Planned work last week as the team will be snowed and one more will help. Plus the money is nice at double time, all good. Was due an Aussie girlfriend over for Christmas Day night (we work together) but she's pretty sick at the moment so don't know. No plans for boxing day or new years eve yet, will see how I feel (could work, probably won't lol).

Enjoy whatever you do guys.

Yes, Sonic!!!  Ravens v Steelers.  Couldn't ask for a better game, especially with our season hanging in the balance.  Can't wait!

Christmas Eve my daughter and I are going to visit some very close friends in Virginia, have dinner hang out, laugh talk etc.  This is a friend from high school that I've known for 28 years.  Great times as always with them!

Then my daughter and I will spend a quiet evening at home, watching some Christmas movies, getting cookies ready for Santa's visit (we made them last night) and then tomorrow morning it will be just her and I; our first Christmas with just us.  Last year she was out-of-town with her Mom so I flew solo on Christmas.  This is a very special time with her for me.  So much has happened in the past couple of years and it's nice to finally be on other side.

To sum it up with a few words:  Content, calm, quiet and most of all, peaceful.  :)

Hope everyone had a great Christmas.

As for me...Christmas Eve's first stop was my sister's house.  The plan was, she would host the family get-together and the two of us would take care of the food for the meal.  That way, mom wouldn't spend all week cooking and could simply enjoy Christmas Eve.  When mom and dad showed up, they had a car full of serving plates, Tupperware containers, and various things wrapped in aluminum foil.  There were nine of us there with food enough to feed fifty.

Then we went down to my Aunt's house in Georgia.  It was nice seeing the cousins from my mom's side of the family again.  I hadn't seen some of them in a couple of years.  One of my cousins has a four-year old daughter who memorized some Christmas songs.  That kid managed to turn Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer into a twenty-minute jam session.

Christmas Day by comparison was quite and laid back.  Lounged around with the girlfriend this morning and we went up on Lookout Mountain and hiked for a couple of hours.  The weather here was 72 degrees with partly cloudy skies.  It didn't feel like Christmas, but was perfect weather for a hike.
