Lest we forget, at 11.11.11 we honour them

They shall not grow old
As we that are left grow old
Age shall not weary them
Nor the years condemn
At the going down of the sun
And in the morning
We will remember them
Lest we forget

How do America honour commemorate this day?  Genuine question.

We in England use the Poppy which I believe originates from the poem In Flanders Field, where nothing but poppies grew after the terrible fighting in WW1. Money raised by The British Legion from the sale of the poppies goes to help our vets.

Just interested how our across the pond people do it.

Parades and holiday pay if you work a government job. Some get day off.

Some it's just another day.

Lots of pubs and restaurants give a free item all the way up to a free meal.

I drank some beers

Sarge still carries around a 20-year-old expired military ID on this day, because on this day: free stuff.

;)

Easy Peasy

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
