Paul723 At Three Years

I am well and regaining my health.  Three years ago began quite a process.  I started CPAP treatment for my sleep apnea this year; I was getting no deep sleep every night.  This was taking my life slowly like cigarettes.  Now I wake up well rested every morning.

I have lost 24 pounds and I am below my pre-quit weight.  I eat better and walk for a mile 4 times a week along with using the exercise machines.  Babs advice, “Don’t drink calories” has been helpful.  So even though there is less of me, I believe what remains is of higher quality.  In a show of solidarity, my hair continues to thin as well.

Janet723 has now had her shoulder replacement repaired (should have gotten the extended warranty) so she has her own improvement program.  All three cats are well and are seeking sunshine, or food, or a nap, or some combination of these.

To my existing hobbies of sausage making and meat curing, gardening, canning, and brewing I have now added pizza making.  I have also taken two classes on whole hog butchery (with money I didn’t waste on cigarettes).

I have bought a new dark blue Honda CR-V; I like to think of it as “Chariot of Paul”.  If you see me driving around please wave.

The members of the QuitTrain are superheroes.  Not leap over tall buildings types, just everyday ones that have saved themselves from the slavery of smoking and help others to do the same.  Remember to do your superhero pose on a regular basis.

If someone who hasn’t quit comes across this post, here are two of my favorite quotes:

Soberjulie

If you are lurking....don't wait. Don't wait one more god damned minute.
The momentary discomfort is worth the lifetime of freedom.
Do it.

Jump.

Train Music!  The chicks can dance to this I think.  Sazerac was in the crowd.

Great post Paul.  Congratulations.

Another testament of how much better life is when we break the shackles of addiction.

"The momentary discomfort is worth the lifetime of freedom."  Damn straight.

I am so happy to hear from you, Paul.

Your calm voice, succinct manner and kindness are really missed.

Thanks for the visit !

p.s.  I was,  no no no,  NOT in the crowd...I don't hang out with hippie types, out of tune pianos or people with banjos. :P

edited to add:  well, I may have hung out an out of tune piano or two...

So very good to hear from you Paul!  So happy things are going so well in your nosmo life.  It really is the best thing any of us have ever done for ourselves.  I cannot imagine the shape I'd be in now if I still smoked.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
