>Stopping smoking stops this crippling ilness getting any worse

Actually, it *can* still progress even after quitting. It will (likely) slow down progression but for most the disease continues to progress. Just much more slowly.

Also - there are plenty of Never Smokers with COPD who die from the progression of the disease. Nothing at all to do with smoking or quitting, and it still progresses to termination.

Grim, Sad Truth.

Lessons learned from Doreen's life and all QTrains testimonies help to keep me quit.

There is no doubt that to some degree,  damage has been done.

I won't be surprised if I have to really pay for my addiction down the road.

The fact that my second hand smoke drifted into my daughter's lungs is a horrible truth.

The only sliver lining is that I stopped perpetuating the damage and for that I am grateful.

Great video and good information.  Sadly, I didn't quit soon enough and it is also true that Sgt. Barney said, it does still progress even when we quit smoking but much, much slower, thank God. I am still grateful that I quit..I would be dead now if I had not quit.

Congrats P having the strength to quit...

My husband carried on smoking for another twelve years after being diagnosed..he didn't heed the warnings...

He is now on the end stages...which could go on for years...

He worked with asbestos too...and has dust on his lungs...a double whammy...

Hi Sgt., no my bass is a vintage Fender Mustang.  I like the P bass but the short scale neck is better for me cause I have small hands.  I take it your a musician too?  :)

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
