Only made it three weeks...

This time I only made it three weeks, then relapsed the day before the smoking cessation class I signed up for, so starting all over. I'm taking the class and following my homework carefully, including the reading, and then some. I keep reading the first few chapters of our textbook over and over again. And I think last time I didn't read the whole book. Going to do that this time around. Especially since it covers keeping from relapsing and I didn't read it last time. Going to read Allen Carr's book again too. Watch videos again. The whole works. I'm going to make it this time around. Though I'm having trouble coming up with quit reasons this time around. Other than I'm tired of the sore throat I get from smoking. And the numb tongue. And standing out in the heat. Well, that's three... but I had a lot of quit reasons last time around! I don't get why this quit is so much harder than any other one I've had before. I'm turning into a serial quitter. I really don't get it. I made it three months before. How did I fail after three weeks this time? Oh well. Resetting and starting over. Quit date is July 26th. So I'll be smoke free for my second honeymoon on August 3rd and 4th. I know, short for a honeymoon, but it's all we can afford this time around. He has to take a day off to do this as is. But I really don't want to be smoking for it anyway, so I'm going to follow this class closely, do my homework, and especially do my reading.

It all comes down to YOU.  The why's and the rest is other stuff.  When you are ready, you already know...you can quit nicotine.

My encouragement here, hinges on you deciding to quit.

Break the cycle Indigo.  Quitting is simple and the rewards are great.  There will be moments of mental discomfort, short and fleeting, nothing you can't handle.  Commit to yourself and continue educating yourself about the addiction.  Eventually, you will have that moment of clarity about cigarettes and you will never regret the effort.  Freedom is sitting right there waiting for you to grab it.

 

The process is nothing to fear and the benefits are plentiful.

 

Onward Indigo, onward.

Quit now. Not two weeks from now.

 

No reason to wait and make honeymoon one of the hard weeks. Setting up to fail again.

I agree with Bakon, do it NOW... don't make your honeymoon a ma one because you had some withdrawl costantly wanting a cig instand of your hubby 

Take of those patches they keep you cycling

Education ..knowledge... Read all you can ...when you see smoking for what it really is...this will be your tool..

There will always be good reason for carrying on with this killer addiction...this is the nature of the beast..

Keeping sucked in.....addicted...

Jump back on ...don't wait....no time like NOW...x

Your post scares me.

 

Trouble coming up with quit reasons?

 

Death? Sickness? Drowning in your armchair? No good?

We like to laugh and joke here - and I'm the first to offer support but from time to time, a little truth is required:

 

Indigo, quit playing.

Quitting will give you a new sense of confidence that you will never believe you could possess.  You will feel and know that you can do anything...which obiviously by this email... you lack.

 

Quit f*cking around Indigo.  It is a mindset... do you want to smoke and die, smell, feel like sh*t all the time and be a slave to a drug... or do you want to not be all that stuff.  Your decision.

 

Relapsing sucks... stop doing it.

Use the education you are getting from your classes, to kill the lies that nicotine has created in your head.

 

You smoked after 3 weeks, because you continued to believe these lies.

 

So did all of us. For many years.

 

As long as you believe that smoking provides to you *ANY* benefit, you will continue to throw quits away.

 

 

 

However.......realize this:

 

The only thing that is required to quit smoking permanently.....is to make a personal commitment, to never take another puff.

 

Quitting smoking is as easy as this. Do it.

Indigo, sorry to see you lose your quit again.

 

You have to start again as soon as possible. All you are doing by holding off, is making it harder for yourself.

 

Now, remember there is a big difference between wanting to quit and being really ready to quit, you have to get yourself into the latter's mindset.

 

With your post, all i'm reading is junkie excuse's!!

 

There is only one thing smoking will give you if you keep smoking, it will be nothing enjoyable to you either.
