For one don't apologise for an SOS, that is what it is there for.

If you can, take yourself outside. Control your breathing and picture yourself in your favourite place.

You know that a craving only last about three mins. Whatever else you are having to deal with can wait.

Put yourself in a better place in your mind. I promise you things will look better if you take some time out.

Evelyn you can get through this, you are strong, step backwards just for five minutes. Then forward again.

Hey Evelyn.

1. Smile. Just do it. Don't argue with me. Smile.

2. Listen to Porky. Get out there and walk. Get some clean fresh air in your lungs. Look at the beauty all around you.

3. Give yourself a pat on the back for winning the war one battle at a time.

Well done for posting. Now - smile again, breathe and walk.

Late to your party....but glad you didn't smoke.

If I may offer an observation:

People around you, the ones you want support from and fail you sometimes:

They are human. It's what we humans do. We sometimes succeed at being a support for others and we sometimes fail.

Evelyn maybe you could practice being your own best friend, your own support system. Cultivate a set of tools that works for you in times of stress and anger....then instead of relying on others who may not always be able to fit the job, you'll have learned healthy ways of soothing yourself.

Peace out

I sit in my rocking chair and  rock.

I rock with Seriousness, with Intent.

I pay full attention to my distress.  I give it time to show itself.

Easy to identify the demon.

Then, I put something on the jukebox and dance like a wild woman.

Demon gone until the next time.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
