Yesterday I talked to a friend who I have known for about 35 years and who still smokes.  I noticed he was coughing a huge amount; it sounded like he had a bad chest cold. I asked him why so much coughing and he said it was because of smoking.

Horrible!  I used to cough all the time too, especially when I laughed or at night while sleeping.  I also choked a lot when eating.  All of this is gone now.  Imagine all of that tar and smoke seeping into a body's  healthy tissue, irritating it hour after hour, year after year.  YUCk!

Yep, I used to cough and have to clear my throat all the time when I'd lie down and try to go to sleep.  Hated it!  So glad to be rid of that! :)  And it doesn't take that long after quitting.

Like beacon,  I couldn't laugh without fits of coughing, or  like you, Petra couldn't lay down flat in comfort (too much pressure on our poor lungs ! ).

I have a friend.  Major COPD.  Chimney Smoker.  Cannot speak Half a sentence without hacking through the rest.

She will need Oxygen soon.  Her vaporizers and shots of cortisone are beginning to be ineffective.

We were smoking/drinking buddies but, my smoke freedom has distanced us,  even though I never mention it.

Damn.

When I smoked nine times out of ten ..I felt my food had gone down the wrong way and this made me cough and choke..

Since I quit this has disappeared completely..
