  • 2 weeks later...

So I went back today for that followup... which was fine.  But then at the end of the visit they asked if I got the letter for the lab results for the yearly pap crap ...of course i hadn't checked my mail in a couple days so I said no...then I get bombarded with all of this information.  It came back abnormal and I have to go back and have some procedure done and a biopsy ...they started throwing weird words around but all I really heard was cancer and I didnt really process everything they were saying as I was not expecting any of this during this visit.  They gave me these pamphlets about the procedure and about the lab results and stuff.  So I am high anxiety right now. So now I have 2 weeks til I go back and im just feeling like I'm crawling out of my skin.  On the verge of tears.  Very confused.

Sorry if this made anyone uncomfortable.  was just updating everyone.  And needing to vent a little.

Think I'll go cry now.

Rach, I've heard all these words a few times chick. Don't scare me, lets talk. Did they say Cin (may sound like sin) and spout a number after it.  Can you check your mail, do you feel up to it. Shit I wish we were same continent and I could give you my number!

Don't be scared by a biopsy chick, that normally means they don't know what they are dealing with.

What do you remember. Let me help here. xx

just because it came back abnormal does not necessary mean it is cancer that is why they are going to do a biopsy to see what if anything it is. Try not to think too much into it if possible I know easier said than done......Hugs hun

One of my good friends has had an abnormal one twice now and it's scary as all get out, but it has always turned out fine.  I hope that all is all right!!  I am afraid it might be a long two weeks.  Just remember, you are doing everything in your power now to be healthy and if you can, try and keep yourself busy/distracted.  Hopefully it's nothing, but if it is something, well then you are tough and will handle that too.  We are all behind you and thinking of you.  Please don't hesitate to vent as much as you like.

Many, many hugs to you R.

I had a abnormal pap once.  They did a procedure and before long my paps were normal again.  That was like 12 years ago and no issues since.

I worried too, so I won't tell you not to, but the likelihood is that it will be easy to treat and you'll be good to go.

Big hugs!!  It's always so nerve wracking to get news like this but try to think on the positive side.

Oh, Rachael...this happens to me almost every time.  So sorry they did not take time to explain.  Please believe me, it is probably nothing.  The health professionals are so used to it that they do not take the time to think about how they make us feel...and that we have no frame of reference to understand what they are saying. I am willing to bet it is a very simple procedure, and the result will be fine...that is how it has always worked out for me.

I've had abnormal smears hun and here you go back 6 months later for another smear test and if that comes back abnormal then they go on to the next step but my follow up smear came back normal and I know it is common for this to happen.

Did they only do one smear? Every country is different I know.

I'm not gunna try say don't worry pet cos I know you will but try get out and watch the sunset more often, get that fella to bring you out lots to help keep your mind off it.

Please message if you wanna talk, always here for you, let me know when you go get it done and I will light my lucky candles for you,

Thinking of you buddy,

Love, cuddles and kisses coming at ya xxxxxx

That must be tough, no one deserves that.

But you are still young, cancer at your age is not likely. You said yourself that they were throwing words around, maybe there was an alternative explanation? If you have the lab results, something to go on, you could do your own research for alternatives. Since they already gave you the cancer scare there isn't much harm in that and you might get some peace of mind.

Hope everything goes well for you.
