I quit smoking cold turkey and found Allen Carr's book extremely valuable as well - love the positive mindset of it.  I have quit both smoking and drinking.  Quitting smoking was much much easier for me mostly because there are absolutely zero benefits to smoking, and it is more socially unaccepted.  Quitting drinking is another story for another day, and something I stopped just 4 months ago.

I am much happy and healthier without either in my life and don't miss them one bit - well, occasionally, I miss that first glass of wine, but I sure don't miss any of the ones that follow.  :)

Come to the board as much as you can in the beginning.

I enjoyed finger foods to help distract from smoking, like peanuts in the shell or chips and salsa.  Those didn't mix too well with smoking.

You can do it!

So, my question is...  I know everybody is different, but is cold turkey better?  I have a feeling it will be for me!!  How do you handle back sliding??  do e-cigarettes have any value?

Cold Turkey Quitting Redefined

Video discusses that when you see or hear news reports related to studies comparing cold turkey quitting to other methods of cessation, the studies may actually have nothing to do with cold turkey quitting.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
