Thanks a lot everyone , you are all inspirational ! I've quit a few times (haha) but my failing has always been after the pain has finished . I need to stay focused after the hard work is done . I'm going along ok at the moment and I'm determined to not waste this one . I need to keep reminding myself that I'm still an addict no matter how much of a non smoker I feel , nope all the way .

I need to keep reminding myself that I'm still an addict no matter how much of a non smoker I feel , nope all the way .

That's key right there.  It's the paradox of quitting: I want to smoke a cigarette, but I don't want to be a smoker.  Once I accepted the fact that I was an addict, and with that comes the occasional thought of wanting a cigarette, I learned to dismiss those thoughts easily.  Random thoughts springing from an addicted mind are nothing to fear and are immediately overridden by the commitment to never smoke again.  When I stopped making straight lines crooked, the simplicity of quitting amazed me.

It's my 30th wedding Anniversary today . My better and always correct other half has been 23 days smoke free today ! Anyway I got up and made us two cups of tea , we are normally hardcore coffee drinkers . I would normally chain about 5 cigs first thing also . That morning trigger is well busted , yea !!!!

Thank you for your lovely comments. I'm happier that somehow it helped you to connect some dots. I always believed that was the power of a quit forum, you can take a little bit from everyone and simply leave what doesn't work for you.

Some things can be real deal breakers for relapsing and I'm pleased these guys could share them. By choosing nope, sometimes in a dance fueled craze lol, and realizing I was simply addicted to nicotine I stopped giving myself the choice to relapse. Being a non smoker is easier, you just don't put anything in your mouth and set it on fire :)

Welcome. My advice is keep reading, keep posting. xx

Actually, I promise you the opposite. Some days will be worse than the one before.

On the whole, however, Petra is right. Much as it pains me to admit it.

Welcome to the Train.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
