I quit smoking on August 30th 2013 and I'm more happy now than I've ever been, I'm free!

It's an odd feeling though, I often switch between these feelings:

I honestly can't believe/remember that I was ever a smoker

I can't believe that I actually managed to quit smoking (& so easily too!)

They kinda contradict each other but that's honestly how I feel!

I should also mention that my subconscious is apparently still a smoker because I STILL smoke in my dreams, it's never really the subject of the dream anymore but it's quite often in the background. The smoking dreams don't bother me, I'm just happy that my subconscious is the only place I'd ever think about smoking again.

Quitting smoking definitely doesn't have to be hard (just ask Sarge - easy peasy) and it's 100% easier than living with the consequences of smoking.

I don't post or visit here nearly as often as I should but just wanted to write how I feel at 2.5yrs free = Happy.

So happy for you, Gemma!   You have a special place for me as the last of the Summer 2013 Quitters.  You have had some huge changes in your life since your quit....and you have handled them like a pro.   Congratulations on 2.5 years!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
