Second one I've had now since I quit. I just hate them. Do you think that's the little nicmonster making his last pathetic attempts to keep me under his wicked spell?

I had smoking dreams until around 10 months. The early ones were horrible. They were the ones where I woke up thinking it had really happened. They became few and far between and now I haven't had one in a long time.

I think I had these for the first two years. Not only did they feel completely real, but in my dreamworld I'd remember that I'd actually been successfully smoking the occasional "social" cigarette all along, without getting hooked again. What a total mindf@*%.

Still, I was never more happy to wake up, and whatever they meant they served their purpose.

I had the dreams too....and was terrified for just a split second until I realized it was a dream. (Nightmare actually)

My take on that was....I was so committed to my quit that smoking would have devastated me. Looking at it this way...The dreams actually re-enforced my quit because I was so relieved to wake up and realize I didn't really smoke.

I think it's a good thing.

Keep at it. You're doing awesome!!

I am fascinated by dreams, but by no means an expert.  My guess is the smoking dreams are some attempt by the subconscious mind to catch up with what your rational mind and body are doing.  It's part of the process.  Frustrating at times, but necessary.

They say you live and learn, but when we quit smoking we have to learn to live.

I was planning on posting about this today. I've had 2 in the last week. Last nights bothered me a lot bc I kept telling myself (in the dream) that I would be fine having one and it wouldn't cause a relapse. I know this is not true bc it is the exact way I relapsed before. Anyhow, they are bothersome and make me feel guilty in the morning. Like I have relapsed.

I didn't have any the first 6 weeks. They just started a few weeks ago. This last week has been a rough one for me in terms of having craves and missing it. Maybe that's why I've had them.

Still holding onto my quit though.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
