Been a smoker since the age of 18. I'm 50 now. 

In bygone days I coulda done the math without a thought and told you how many years that is. Not now uh-uh. I blame the leasing of my brain (and life!)  to Mr Malboro Menthol 100's.  Bought them in threes even though I was a 20-cig-a-day habit.

 

Woke up on this particular Sunday morning (rainy, windy, cold)  and realized I'd forgotten to buy them the previous night. Of course that warranted a leap out of bed, check cash situation, bring the credit card along, slip into sweats and high tail it to gas station.

 

This particular Sunday I realized I didn't want to. Instead,I wanted to roll over, pull the covers over my head and stay in the warmth of my snug bed.

 

And that's what I did. And that became my quit day. Just like that.

Welcome, Daphne! I love your story and 20 days quit is wonderful.  So glad you found us...there is a lot of wonderful information here to help you reinforce your quit.  There are also a lot of dedicated (and sometimes goofy) quitters here who are anxious to cheer you on and help in any way we can.

Welcome Daphne and congratulations on quitting.  Those spur-of-the-moment quits like yours tend to have a very high success rate.  You don't spend time before hand getting yourself worked up and anxious, you just jump right in.  You're doing well.

bought them in threes? Like three at a time or three packs?

 

3 packs. Each time I approached that counter I made sure I left at least  $21 poorer!

YOu have earned a reward for time and amount saved. Be sure to treat yourself for the hard work, magazine, candy bar, new shoes , just a gift to yourself to keep up the good work.

Glad to have you with us, sounds like a great start to a sticky quit. Boo's right, I think - my own quit was mostly unplanned and just sorta happened, and I'll be hitting 4 years next month. Keep reading, learning, posting and NOPEing and you'll do this.

.... I realized I didn't want to.....

 

And that's what I did. And that became my quit day. Just like that.

 

 

I love this!  When you know it, you just know it.  Good on you!  Congrats on your 20 days.

I bet you are beginning to feel the benefits already. (Extra money in the pocket for sure).

Hi Daphne, I also love your quit story!  I can't stress enough how much I have learned from reading a book called "Easy way to stop smoking" by Allen Carr. The knowledge of our nicotine addiction is the most powerful tool we have! Congrats on your new quit and :welcome:
