I've heard Febreeze is pretty good, but it's pretty strong. Using an orange cleaner would work, but you'd be scrubbing down your car. I liked the Febreeze air clips for your vents, and my friend used one of those canned air fresheners to get the dog smell out of his car.

I have also read that an open box of dryer sheets under the front seat will eliminate odors and keep your car smelling fresh.

I use dryer sheets in my car as air fresheners. I like it! Although, I have not smoked in this car so not sure how well it would mask that smell. I will tell you with my last car - when I quit my first time several years ago.. I gave it a real good vacuum with the high powered ones down at car washes. Then used some air fresheners and cracked my windows as much as I could. The smell was always still there but it really went away a lot after a few months.

Thankfully I never smoked much in my car, but then it was tough to get rid of that smell... leaving the windows open at every opportunity helped, I'm sure.  Otherwise, a good deep clean by the guys at the car wash, and an uber-amount of Air Fresheners eventually did the trick!

An ozone machine will knock it out and most car detailing places offer it.  Until then, cover it with something purdy.

If you can tolerate the smell of cloves, get yourself some Thieves Oil, or Google for the recipe and make your own (super easy).  Once you have the base, you can add water and mist it, mix it with corn starch/baking soda and sprinkle it on carpets then vacuum or just add it to cotton balls and stick them in the corners. Lemon, rosemary and eucalyptus is a nice blend too; it's one of Williams-Sonoma's signature scents.

YAY! Runfree, we actually have an ozone machine!  Use it for getting all smell out of our hunting clothes for deer hunting. Now why didn't I think of that?!

You have to be careful with them though!  If used too much, they will also breakdown rubber which can cause all kinds of chaos.  A friend had a house fire and they over did the ozone and she had to replace appliances, some door seals, etc.
