Hi guys, hope your all well - although I have no idea who anyone is as you've all changed your names lol ...

Anyhoo ... I'm a week or so off 11 months quit (OMG) and I'm still amazed by my sense of smell ... usually I'm not that impressed by it 'cos a lot of people in my area seem to smell really bad ... especially those walking around in their fog of smoke (bleugh) ... but I've just discovered pot pourri really is fragrant!

I have NEVER been able to get much of a smell off it so kept some in my living room purely for decorative purposes - I've had the same one for a few years!  But it ended up 'accidently' flying through the air one day so I decided to get a new bag.  And it has a smell that's filled the whole room!!!  Honestly I never knew!

What other nice smells am I missing out on??!!

Hi Wendy...

Glad to see you checking in.... It's nice to see when someone hasn't been around in awhile that the quit is still strong.!

this time of year, I am really amazed at how good (and strong) the scent of pine is!.. To me, the smells of the outdoors in general amazes me much more now than it did as a smoker.

Hi Acton .. I did think babies when I wrote the post but I was thinking more along the lines of that fresh bathed and powdered baby rather than a poopy one ... yep don't miss that one at all!

Hey Wendy. Good to see you!

Cut grass. That one blows me away.

Nice work on 11 months.

Bandit?  How's the book?  Cut grass gives me the sneezes at which point I can't smell a damn thing so I'll take your word for it lol ..

Hi Wendy...congratulations....

Aww the Sunday roast....it smells even better now...

Smelling that meat cooking...geez...I'm hungry now...xx

Hi Doreen .. ahh cooking meat ... except lamb!  I really don't like how that smells when its cooking .. lost my appetite with that ..

Now I'm really confused ... Joe?? I have no idea what pine really smells like .. but the outdoors ... I live fairly close to a farm and oh boy do they use a lot of fertiliser on their fields!  Some days I prefer it when I couldnt smell lol ...

Hi Wendy!

Gain or a Tide laundry detergent. It is so nice to smell like that instead of gross stake smoke.

Hi Ava!  I love laundry detergents!  I keep sniffing my laundry lol ... thats not weird right?

Hi Wendy, I'm so glad to see you. I always felt real sorry for your suffering physically in the early quit so to get to 11 months is amazing news, massive congrats!

I am so with you on smells, they are so different. Do you sniff all the fabric conditioners in the shop before buying one too? I love everything scentsy. I use fragrance plug ins downstairs now, prefer the fresh linen or cotton type smells but apple and cinnamon is quite festive and nice.

The smell of after it rains! It's so fresh, the kids think it's hillarious that I still open the door to smell it...we are in england after all :)

Food...all food, smells and tastes better.

Hi Marti!  Thanks for your sympathies ... Actually I'm still struggling with bloody ulcers/canker sores ... Not only do I have a problems with most toothpastes and some mouthwashes but I'm also now intolerant of citric acid!  So no fruit, nothing fruit flavoured, no coleslaw, tomatoes in any form, no Pepsi Max nor dandelion & burdock (sob) etc etc ... I'm getting to grips with it now thankfully but I screwed up last weekend when I had a can of Coca Cola - that has phospheric acid not citric so I thought I was safe but I missed the bit that said "natural flavouring" which is rumoured to be amongst other things, orange oil and lemon oil ... Anyway next day I had four ulcers/cankers ... I kid you not!  One is mahoosive on my left tonsil ... I actually thought it was tonsilits at first lol ... Now trying to work out what I can use as a mixer with voddy ...

My kids think I'm insane how I sniff everything ..

So sorry to hear you are still having those issues!  Canker sores hurt!

Very happy about your 11 months!  What about tonic water...would that work?

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
