Oh gosh. I just had flashbacks from those times. Digging through ashtray to straighten out a butt and light it. Grosssss.

When I was at casino I ran out of smokes and paid 12 bucks a pack. (That's when it was normally 7 dollars a pack)

But honestly I would have paid 20. I would probably have paid even more. Damn addiction

On one memorable occasion I can recall that my husband (at the time ;)) took the last pack of cigarettes when he left for work.  I called him in such a huff ,because I was going to have to get ready for work without my fix, that he left work to bring me a pack.  If that is not pathetic I don't know what is. I guess it wasn't just his fault the marriage didn't work out.....hahaha

Last year I was out for a bike ride in the winter rain, which is more fun than it sounds, when I rode past the hospital, and noticed a person slumped over in a scooter, not moving. I rolled up thinking maybe she was dead, or at least unconscious, and asked if she was ok. She was awake, but so weak that she couldn't really lift her head off her chest, much less do what she really wanted to do, which was light her cigarette. So I fished her lighter out of her pocket and lit the damp cigarette that she had dangling from her lips.

I can't really describe how I felt as I pedalled away.

Not being able to register the car when it was due, and having to wait till "next P day".... or buy healthy food in abundance! Fruit, veg, fish etc... skimping on EVERYTHING but never always 'finding' the money for cigis...

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
