Post a typical smoker's excuse or statement of why he/she can't quit or some smoking falsehood.  Maybe an excuse you used yourself.  Next person to post, breaks the excuse down and then posts the next excuse and so on.  Try to keep it going for the newbies and those thinking about quitting.

I'll go first :)

That is definitely  junkie thinking.  How can a bunch of rolled up leaves and poison keep you company?  Smoking is not a pet!

Yes, you probably will.  But fat cells are a lot easier to get rid of than cancer cells.  You can deal with that when your quit is secure.  As proof, check out Babs!

My significant other smokes...I don't think I can quit without them...

its the same for lots of people but the quit is for you, not for others. There are ways to work round it like asking your partner not to smoke around you for a while until you get up your strength and you never know, you just might be the push your partner needed to quit too.

Yes quitting is hard but going for cancer or other any other illness caused by smoking would be harder still.

I will be bored without smoking

You will not be bored when you quit as you will be surprised on how much more stuff you do instead of just sitting or standing there puffing away, now that is boring!!

I like it - umm no you are addicted to it and the little drug gives you a hit

I COULD NOT COPE WITHOUT A SMOKE

That's the cigarette lying to you.  Once you quit, not only will you have more time to explore, you will most likely discover a new hobby or passion;

I'm going to quit by cutting back.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
