Yes, 9 days in is difficult... But don't buy any cigarettes on the way to work, and you've already removed the possibility of smoking at work today. Just take it a day at a time. Get through today and see how you feel tomorrow. NOPE!

Take away the stop from the way to work... crank that music box up... chew that gum... you can get all the way to work without that one stop   :music:

Remember there is never just one without the rest that comes after it... yuk!  :gagging-928:

You are doing great Michelle :)

Glad you rode it out.  Like Beacon said, tough it out...take a deep breath, think past the anxiety, exercise, cry...whatever tool it takes to get past those spikes because really, they are only spikes and they're fleeting.  You just need to get around their sometimes sharp edges.

I read a few times the posts about thinking past the anxiety to what it would REALLY be like to take that one puff...the stench, the burn, etc...and if you think about how absolutely gross it would be, you will stop with the romancing dead in it's tracks.

You have the worst week behind you.  That's huge!  KTQ MDS.

Don't go crazy like some of those exercisists here. Concentrate only on staying quit. Changing too much in life can add stress when relaxing is what's needed. Exercise is always good...but so is putting feet up with a book

Good job riding that out.  The early days can be so hard and the key is having a plan for weak moments.  You did great posting here to protect your quit!!  Deep breathing can help as well to calm you when that feeling starts to come over you.  The monster will go to sleep if you don't feed it so hang on tight and talk to us when it gets hard.

Proud of you!!

one thing that helped me....and still does....is to EXPECT this to happen.  Expect it.  I think when it catches people off guard..that's when it really throws you for a loop.   A craving comes..and if you get all upset about it...and expect it not to be there..then it will just nag at you.    If you expect it...then it gently glides in and out of your consciousness like a whisper.

Just this morning I was looking for something to post on our Facebook page and within 5 minutes I had a strange urge....seriously??  5 minutes after searching google for great information about how great it feels to be smoke free....that's funny!  but that's how it happens...sometimes on our strongest days, we have our strongest urges.  But they are temporary.  Until the next time...and no big deal when it comes because you were expecting it.

It's like leaving the front door open....and the back door too.  You get a nice breeze that way..

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
