Michelle, remember that real craves only last 3-5 minutes...and will go away if you smoke or not.  Get up, get busy.  Sing, dance, laugh, cry, rant, rave, run...anything but sticking something in your mouth and setting it on fire!!!!!!

Keeping busy.... Do anything....come here and do the games....

Read a book...listen to music...have a nice soak....

Don't listen to that nico monster.... He's trying to suck you in....

Your stronger than him...

Yell...smoking is not on the table.....this got me through many a crave....

No. No! The obsession and temptation is in its third hour but I just have to get to work and I will be safe. I dont need to repeat the same pattern of quit start quit start. Ty Nancy. Youre right. The voice telling me to smoke is not me. Its the nicodemon. The Just One Monster

No such thing as just one....and you've already proved that to yourself.  Just hang on...one moment at a time, if necessary!   You can do this!  The only way it is ever going to get better is to go through the hard parts.

Michelle your bidy is out of whack right now craving all those poisons! Drink plenty of water and fruit juices, keep active, run away from the gas station!

 

It's time to get tough with that addictive brain of yours and shout at it to shut the heck up!

 

You can do this you don't want to start over its worth the fight

To me: you can take a deep breath. Your mouth tastes good. You smell good. Energy coming back. Why are you craving something that will kill you? Think about mom and aunt judy. They both died from smoking related problems. Imagine telling Chris, Lori Jessa and Alex you have a terminal illness. Youre 48. No matter how old you feel, u are too young to die!! Be strong for them until you can be strong for yourself. Dont listen to the excuses that the Just One Monster is giving you. They are just that. Excuses.

 

The craving is going away. After going on three hours its going away. Not bad! I am going to turn this into a pre respond SOS.

The beautiful thing is....your not a smoker....

Think of all the hard work you have done in the last 4days....feel proud....

Go home and punch a pillow....this also worked for me....

Imagine nico monsters face on it...and punch away....then have a nice soak....

Ty Doreen. Unfortunately I only have a shower, not a tub. Oh how I would adore a bubble bath with candles and music. I am on my way to work but I prob shouldn't punch anyone there lol. I am so giddy that the craving went away as I wrote my SOS! I love this board. Not planning to leave again.

Good, that's settled then!

 

As you're a non smoker, you're gonna need to get a game plan together of distractions cause 3 hours means you started to obsess/romance. 

 

All things, good or bad, this too shall pass...it always passes.

 

Pleased it's passed for you sweetie. Remember that next time, you are building a battle plan... so far you have 100% success rate in this quit!

remember michelle....a crave is not a command to smoke.

 

You are a non smoker but your addiction needs time to catch up to that.  Trying to fight that addiction with willpower is fruitless.  Fighting the addiction with knowledge and education....SUCCESSFUL!!

 

You've got this.

 

Each time you beat down a crave....it makes the addiction weaker..and YOU stronger!!

Each time you make it around the corner, you are met with MASSIVE relief and pride.  On the flip side, you know the feeling and mindset one has when they relapse.  Focus on chasing the elation and not on the weight of the crave.  It makes a big difference.

I'm a bit late but I would just like to say well done for posting on here instead of buying those cigarette's from the gas station. Yes it would be so easy to do but you have made your choice, you are a non-smoker, brilliant.

Hi Michelle, sorry I'm late, but thank you for the great read!! This is exactly how it's supposed to go, how it has to go. You were tempted, you obsessed, you womaned the hell up and got past it. Perfect. This is exactly why you're here, and why we're here. You win this round, you badass.

 

But there will be more rounds, so bookmark this thread to remind yourself in those moments of weakness who you really are. You'll go through it again and again, and each time your junkie lizard brain will learn how hard you are, and get that much weaker, until eventually there will be no more struggle.

Thank you! I was just having another round of junkie thinking...this time thinking the only thing that could stop me from buying a pack on the way home was me. It wasn't like I'd have to wrestle a crocodile or anything. I could simply go buy some. 

 

Then I remembered how good I felt when I got to work and how grateful I was to all of you for helping me. I came back to read this thread and it was exactly what I needed.

 

I still have a few hours before I Have to leave work to go  home. Hoping I can keep the NicoDemon from taking over!
