20 year smoker with almost 2 years quit under my belt. Ran my first 8K and placed for my age group with an 8.5 mph pace. Felt great passing all those Never Smokers on the course. Boo-Yah

It can be done folks...once the fog lifts the truth is exposed...smoking sucks!

Right on Mr. Balls!

I drag along my 25 year old never smoker running partner. The topic of smoking has never come up. But she says her goal is to someday keep up with me.

That said, the 5 miles yesterday were hard ones. Some days it just doesn't flow.

Just ran 3 (8.75 min) miles.

Kicked my sorry ass.

Hopefully @ 2 years quit I'll be faster.

Awesome. Running helps me stay quit. I was asked last night by a friend if I want to join her at a 10k race this morning and not only did I say yes, I am able to as well. Amazing what can be achieved when smoking stops.

That's great. I've recently started running myself and each day gets a little better. My goal is to be able to run a race someday. Right now it doesn't seem possible but I will just keep working at it and being grateful every day that I don't smoke.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
