Jess, I blew a 5 month quit recently, but I am back on the train. I "fessed up too". I really felt it was important to get right back into the warm seat others kindly saved for me asap despite my failure. That was highly encouraged here. I don't post often but I have won the battle. I am smoke free. And I CAN identify with what you are going through. You can stop smoking quickly again. It's a mind set..."I don't want to be a Smoker or a Serial Quitter because I want to live". You can get back Jess....you do need to get the right mind set before old habits re-establish themselves. I hope my post helps you. You will be beating yourself up & feeling guilty & angry with yourself....but so many on QT understand and are here for You. So am I. Good luck...thinking of you xx

Jess maybe the way I said is was too harsh but there's truth in it. Reflect on yourself... do you REALLY wanna be a smoker for the next upcoming years realising you could have picked up your stick quit now?

You need courage to start from scratch after 9 months BUT is the alternative a REAL option?

At first you pissed me off you seemed to work to your relapse.... and then escaped saying you don't need to ask help don't deserve it or whatever, I thought the same BUT I posted a SOS a while back, I was close to caving but I set aside my pride and SCREAMED help and posed my frustrations, anger and excuses in my head (junkiethinking) and at the end I got sweet, caring replies, proud friends around me standing with me and applausing for posting a SOS.

I think (I almost made the same mistake outta pride) I didn't need a sOS anymore that I was over it that I got it and never in this quit I was THIS close to blowing it, but IN MY sos i threw away my pride and my anger at myself and the overwhelming replies of QT friends were so loving... at the end of my post I had already got back on track saying NOPE, but DID needed to post it; I was hard on you, nothing untrue still harsh and that why I'm posting this. YOU didn't fail; you only fail when you don't get up.

So get up and get in the train, we all support you but do you support yourself? In the end there was just one difference between us I used my sos to keep my quit and you came to the conclusion 'you had to be over' which gave you an excuse to back off. NEVER BACK off when you're in that need. I've learned you are NEVER over it, it's in our brain in our system, one puff like Joel says and we're back to square one. Maybe you figured long time quiters don't post an SOS and 9 months is a good long begin, but there's the hazard like Scotman said it gets regular you start to underestamet that puff.

First you upset me, others replies about 10 months relapses upset me but it's all about avoiding the traps. You blew your quit, BUT are you less of a beautifull woman, no!!! And YOU, this woman needs oxygen and all the QT support no matter in 2 weeks or 9 months, in fact after calming down as proven many relapsed further in their quit so we can learn from them and YOU, ME and all quiters DESERVE to post a SOS; heck you are supposed too.

I still stick with no excuse for a puff ever but as explained what I think happened I think you do not differ from me or any other quiter, I almost didn't post that SOS and if that had happened I would have kicked my pride worse then posting a sos.

PLEASE forgive me for being harsh, I mean well, and I pray you read this post and start thinking; PLEASE come back not for me but for YOU you had agreat QUIT and you've learned something;

1; don't reason with junkie thinking

2; Always ask help don't fill in the blacks for others

WHY do you think Doreensfree for example (hi hun) still is around. To support us and everyone who needs it but we have to let others support us.

Oh, and stick with the NOPE rule hat excluses a lot of excuses and don't bargain with junkiethought, just NO DISCUSSION....

Hopefully I don't annoy you, if I haven't chased you away already.... :(

Hi Jess

Sorry to hear you have lost your quit. You will now have to if you haven't already step back and look at honestly why this happened. Maybe you still see smoking as having some purpose in your life, it's hard for me to say as I'm new here.

"Junkie thoughts can hit at anytime but if you can try seeing that as really what it is, you don't want to smoke but you brain has re-wired itself to so many situations where you do feel you need to smoke.

What I will say is DON'T leave this place and try not leaving it to long before going for this again. At the moment you will still have all those good habits still there, all the trigger that you have fought through to get to nine months!! Step back and look at that achievement because I know so many people that would have loved to be in that position and can't manage a month. Also don't leave this place it will help to keep you focused. Don't be too disheartened not many people quit first time, just learn from your mistakes and you WILL be stronger next time.

If you are...how you feeling...you have been smoking for a good few weeks now...

You got that tickly cough back ?

Do you find you have to cough to clear your voice.?

You have a lot less money these days?

Do you remember the sayings here sometimes when you light up...

All the knowledge you learned,is rattling about....

would be great to see you back...you know smoking is not the answer...it never was....

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
