So there I am getting off the bus at the airport in Costa Rica when the guide says "any smokers who need to smoke will have to cross the road, and smoke there under the tree". The bus was air conditioned, outside it was 40 Celsius (Africa hot!). They did it.. In the dry season dust and heat they huddled under a tree and had a sweaty smoke. That is clearly not something they were doing for enjoyment.

Anyhow, Costa Rica is amazing - and I didn't even think about smoking... Even all beered up!

Good job on the quit and the vacation!

That takes the glamor right out of smoking doesn't it?

I have heard Costa Rica is beautiful. It's nice you got to enjoy it smoke free.

Being addicted makes people do crazy things! I remember trying to smoke outside in weather with 90-100 km winds, lol. I couldn't even light the damn thing, but oh how I tried!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
