I am very disappointed in myself. I had a relapse. My Doctor weaned me off an antidepressant to start a new one and I got totally messed up. Blew an over 5 month Quit. I know....no excuses. I will let you know my new start date once I know I have accomplished getting back on the train for good. I need to get this new medication working properly first.

I have seen many relapses on these sites and I have seen some excellent next tries and successes.  My suggestion is not to take some time to smoke but instead quit now, rest your ticker, and let's go,  Why reestablish old habits?  I think if you view it as a slip, and that you are truly a nonsmoker, you can move on right away

Okay & thank you! I will get right back on the train....relieved I still have a seat. I WANT to be a non smoker. I do NOT want to go back. It is reassuring to hear others have been successful after a slip....I need to move on forward Beacon.

I did not even want to admit on QT that I had a relapse for a few days. Just reading Everyone's posts makes me realize I did the right thing by admitting to it. No way do I want to go through what I did initially when quitting. Beacon is right...do not reestablish old habits. Stop now. I know I can do this. I am officially back on the train. Saying this helps me to do it. Thanks for your advice. I have NONE of the cancer sticks in the house again. ✌ I CAN SAY NOPE.

...I can tell you I've been there with quite a few things in conjunction with antidepressants years ago. Depending on the type you are taking at any any given time, if you ever have to wean off there are supplements that can help keep your mind clear and your heart from being too heavy, if they are alright with your doctor... even while beginning a new antidepressant.

I wish and hope the best for you!

Thanks New Identity. I appreciate your advice. This is the first time I have ever had to wean off one....have been on same one for years. years. It sure threw me off badly. But I think things are starting to settle down...sure wish I didn't have to take these meds. They are potent & can cause both good & bad results during the adjustment phase as I am sure you are aware. But I am feeling better....just takes time.

Sending gentle strength to you. Agree with you and the others to not call it anything, just go back to being a non smoker and learn your lessons/new plans for any future changes that could risk your quit. I hope all your medications calm down quickly for you, I remember the changes and they are extremely unsettling at best. xx

What do you mean by supplements? Herbs? Vitamins?

I take probiotics to help my gut but there is a definite gut/brain connection as far as mental and immune health. I also live on apple cider vinegar, garlic, and only use certain oils to cook with i.e coconut, olive. I use coconut oil and ACV for my skin and it changed it completely. If I get an infection that is mild or a virus I use oregano oil. I take raw whole food organic vitamins made from pure fruits and veggies, and fish oil. I'm a bit of a nut. I destroyed my body through the years and have found ways to naturally restore a balance. Recently however, I had to suck it up and take antibiotics as my lungs and sinuses were too far gone. I'm slowly getting my body back together. :/

Last nite I dreamed i smoked one, and felt like strarting over and doubted if I could see it as a slip and take away one day. Dunno what I decided. Many where I live tell me I'm so brave for not smoking while everyone smokes but it's a matter of choice while my life sucks right now.
Make a choice!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
