In just 5 days (June 6th) I will celebrate 7 months nicotine/smoke free!

And I gotta say: month 6 to 7 has been, for the most part, darned breezy.  Phew!

Leading up to this time has been difficult and uncertain.  I almost cracked and relapsed when I had 5 months - I came insanely close to sabotaging this new life of mine. Indeed, for those first months I came close to smoking time-after-time.  But I didn't.  And that's all it takes - that's all that really matters at the end of the day.

Tonight's dinner with my family was beautiful.  Food has taken on gargantuan proportions of thrilling delight.  Before each meal I make sure to thank god for the experience of eating.  How blessed I am!  Blessed to have a life where food is commonplace - - and now a new life where food tastes IN-F$#%KING-CREDIBLE.  I am more present when I eat, I've slowed down (no longer am I trying to rush my way to my next fix).

I'm immensely grateful to the members of this forum - for baring all.  Most of us here are open-books and we're not afraid to divulge our very personal experiences.  I need this!!!  There's a high level of trust here.  Trust that our words, expressions and confessions will be met with compassion.  But also met with honesty and tough love.  We are comrades, soldiers in our pursuit and this bonds us in ways 'never-smokers' and 'forever-smokers' can not understand.

I will stay on this board until I make my year (and probably beyond that). My year will be the proudest moment of my life.  I've done some cool things in my 32 years of life, some stuff I'm pretty proud of.  But nothing as remarkable, and hard-fought, as this current battle.  If I can beat nicotine/cigarettes then I can pretty much do anything.  I owe this burgeoning self confidence to NOPE and to all of you here at the QT.  Thanks guys.

Bravo TEW!! It really does get to the time when it almost never crosses your mind and I'm pleased you had an easier month!  This place changed my life too, so I understand your excitement when you talk of self growth through the quit and the honesty. Good for you!

Congratulations,,

You are an have done lots of positive things,  When I was 34 I had 10 years of smoking, cigs, weed , coke,  and doing all kinds of silly

things to myself- I was a speed head too, It took me way past that age to  begin to straighten up, grow up etc,

Don't be too hard on yourself, Rome wasn't built in a day,, I think your doing good an demanding much of yourself,,

I really like this place too, its the only place where everybody knows whats really going on with "us"   ,,,,,,,,

March on Lady,,,

Great post!

TEW

You really are on your way, and am glad to see and read this.

I have a secret, I am jealous of you. I wish I was as smart as you when I was your age.

And you do tend to strip away the veneer to expose a lot of what others don't want seen.

To some it is off putting and TMI but that's what its for...I suppose one could tip toe around it lest they be upset and

tiny talk the quit or on the other spectrum buffalo their way through it like it's was all so fuking easy thats BS thaey did it the same way one day at a time...whatever I get tired of reading that bullshit .

I like your delivery, hat's off to you crazy woman! Month 7 is magical for you as it was for me, I knew I had arrived and you now have too.

You are correct you can do ANYTHING! It's all gravy from here on out...

xx

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
