Hi everyone. I'm new to the forum. I'm 44 years old and started smoking at age 13. I've successfully quit on 2 different occasions. Both were done the cold turkey method. One was 2 1/2 years. The other 1 1/2 years.  I seem the let stress and life events cause me to relapse. I've tried numerous times in between only to last no more than 2 months. After smoking for so many years I can truly feel the negative effects. I get mornings I wake up and my lungs a hurting so bad. I lack energy levels and feel tired. I try to eat healthy but know the smokes are going to put me in an early grave. The way I feel and family history tells me that. My last attempt only lasted about 20 hours and going at it again starting tomorrow morning. I'm going cold turkey once again and need support and encouragement from others. I need to finally kick this evil to the curb once and for all.

you've come to the right place...welcome!!

Quitting smoking is the best gift you can give yourself but your chances of success are not relied upon by willpower or strength....but with education.  There is plenty of that here.  Read up about nicotine addiction and you will find that quitting smoking is not as hard as you thought...as a matter of fact...it's a journey of self discovery that can actually be enjoyable..as long as you don't resist it.

Happy to have you here!!

welcome kmann,

Your odds of beating this addiction are better with a group. Resources are available as is support...people are here from all over  to help.

You know what you are up against, you've done it before. Learn about your addiction as you progress. If you can understand it, you'll understand yourself, and why you react the way that you do and overcome it once and for all..

A cigarette is never the answer to anything.

There are many experienced people on this Forum, K! And lots of Newbies too. The education & assistance you will receive is key to a successful quit. We have to do the quitting work ourselves, but the support through each day & each different stage is so helpful. I can honestly say I am succeeding this Quit with NOPE & the QT members assistance to stay NOPE. Educate yourself, read & watch videos, read forums, blogs & anything you need. Everyone here has been there....they/we

understand. Good luck & never be afraid to ask a question or make a comment....whining is even acceptable! Lol!

Welcome Kman.

Bad News.

Life is agitating whether you smoke or not.

Good news.

You can cope with the agitation better when you don't smoke.

Good to have you here.

Welcome :)

Life, don't it cause you stress!! Thing is, not everyone smokes then do they...that at least gets us thinking. Think and study, ask about the addiction when you're ready to hear the answers and we will share! Or read and find the answers yourself, almost more powerful that way.

Either way, welcome to the support you need to kick this nasty habit to the kerb. x

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
