Hello, wanted to introduce myself.  Been a smoker for over 30 years, though I have stopped a few times for several weeks to 2 years.  This time I'm not going back! Have spent the last week educating myself as well as cutting back and as of today down to 5 a day.  Smoked my last cigarette before midnight tonight and tomorrow is day 1 of being an ex-smoker.  For the first time I feel ready and confidant to do this.  I know it won't be easy and the next few days will be rough, but I will be so much better for it. Over the years,  I've tried everything from acupuncture to nicotine gum to patches to chantix and wellbutrin.  This time I'm going cold turkey and embracing the detox, no matter how hard it is - the meds side effects were worse in the past. I have my biggest reasons for quitting in my journal and will refer to it often. Hoping writing can help me through some of it.  Also have lots of juice, carrots and celery and fruit waiting.  Have been wanting to start an exercise program too so now seems like a good  time!

I know I will need some support and hoping to meet some friends here that can help me over the coming months.  Thank you for being here, and for listening.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
