Hi everyone.

I'm Carlos, 23 years old, from Portugal and I've been a smoker since I was 15, unfortunately! It all started with friends in school, trying to fit in a group that only lead me to problems and a whooping from my mom from time to time, still the time went by and the addiction stayed with me until now.

Currently I'm living in London and I've started a program from the drugstore that lasts for 4 months, they provided me with patches 25mg and gum 4mg, it's my second day and to be honest for who was smoking a pack a day the patches are doing its work wonderfully, I don't even feel the need to chew some gum to help out and until now I can deal with the fact that I work with smokers.

I know it will be a long journey but I'm ready, I have an objective a goal and I feel determined to conquer it all.

Anyhow, that's about it. Loving the forum and how supportive people are.

Hi Carlos!!  Welcome!

Congrats to you on your very wise decision to quit smoking now....at 23.  This addiction was designed to hook you for life and many of us thought when we were at your age that we would quit "later" and there's plenty of time...and that's not true.

Happy to have you here...have a look around and take a look at the library of videos regarding smoking cessation.  The more you know...the better off you will be.

Hey Carlos - well done for making the step in this direction.

If you want to give up, this is the place to be. I'm early in my quit and I wouldn't have reached this point without the support from everyone here. After only 2 months quit - I feel great. Knowing that after 25 years of smoking I DON'T HAVE TO smoke again is a priceless feeling - Keep at it dude!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
