I posted yesterday about the fact it was as simple as saying NO.  Well after that I think the addiction came along and said okayyyy, lets try that out and see how it feels for ya.  I had wave after wave of craves, it actually made my head and body hurt, I cooked, I scrubbed I cried, I stamped my feet, and still the craves came until I felt physically sick, I didn't post an SOS, I have so much stress going on at the minute, medication is being changed, feeling very sorry for myself, but there are so many more out there worse out than me, so I stood up straight, kicked myself in the butt, and roared NOOOOO at the top of my lungs and burst out laughing I must of looked insane, but it worked, I struggled but I coped. xx

Ugh Jackie, sounds rough, so sorry.  On the other hand, I'm glad you have the fortitude to stand up to it and know how to stay no.  Control is yours.

Jackie.....it's so strange that it always seems to happen right after a strong day or moment.  Like the addiction comes along and looks at it as a challenge.  But those moments are what makes you stronger....they suck while it's happening but the benefits are worth it.  Solidifying your quit.

You are doing fantastic.  Well done in facing it head on and guarding your quit.

Jackie - so glad you made it through ... We all know you can do this - you just have to believe- and know that the good days will become more frequent ! xx

Ps - next time - maybe post a video of the screaming and laughing ??

Jackie because life is stressful at the moment, your brain is looking for a way out and the junkie mind remembers the crutch in times like this

The friend, the stress reliever, the distraction, the escapism - but we all know it's all lies and complete BS!!!

Screaming out - good job!!

In your own words "be louder than the addiction" - I like that phrase very much!

Edited to add: you are not alone, vent, SOS, pm me if you need to but don't hesitate to reach out

Jackie I am so pleased you were able to work your way through this. Obviously one of those really bad days plus you have other "stuff" going on. You will have some bad days but the good days will outweigh the bad ones...believe me, it just takes time. If you van reduce any of the stress in other parts of your life...then avoid it. I had to do that & avoiding stress is not easy but sometimes it is necessary & even possible when you look at things individually rather than as a whole, overwhelming mess! This will pass. Cyberhugs to you.

Whoa - that was a dramatic post.  At the beginning I'm like, "no, no, no - don't say that you smoked."  It built up and I readied myself.  Then I was like: PHEW - she made it.

Keeping making it Jackie.

It is having the belief that these horrid craves do and will pass that get me through.  When you are in the stronghold of a crave it is difficult to see past it, but being able to read all your re-affirming posts that they will and they do pass helps me so much more than any of you can know .  The last few days have been very very testing indeed, and I hope that I have gained knowledge and strength from them to march onwards and upwards.  Been really scary, do not want to go back I want to move forward.  Thank you all ........................and Bakon showered and sitting in flip flops,  :P xx

You WILL move forward Jackie because now you know what to expect & how to fight those nasty craves off. They will lighten up soon. You are stronger than they are. It IS scary....no one in their right mind ever wants to go through the misery of a Quit again! Bakon showered & sitting in flip flops? Is this a mental pic or did I miss something????

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
