I have been reading the forum and it does help to read that you are not alone in the struggle. I quit smoking 03/26/15. My struggle is the withdrawal symptoms. I do not want a cigarette at all. I have had stomach issues from day 1. The bloating and gas is very uncomfortable and aggravating. I have been working on diet to see if that will help. I have gained weight but I am not going to worry about that right now. I guess the only good thing about feeling like this is, I will definitely stay quit because I do not want to go through this again!

I smoked for 40 years and tried to quit countless times. I have never gone this long without smoking so I am feeling great about that! Thanks to everyone that posts with praise and help. i could sure use suggestions for the stomach issues.

Welcome and congrats on your quit. as for the tummy issues maybe watch your intake of fiber for a bit to see if that helps alleviate the gas and such but I think that is a normal part of quitting for some people that will go away as time passes. Your body is trying to normalize itself and sometimes it isnt very pleasant.

Hi and welcome...

Congrats on your great decision to quit....

My body was messed up for a while...all the unpleasant symptoms will pass....

Your body has to adjust....it's been used to poison being put in for all those years...

I smoked for 52 years....it takes a while....but the beniefts are amazing....

Oh gosh!  Gas is such an issue when quitting...so much that I am surprised it hasn't been brought up on the QT until now.  Yes...what an inconvenience but....trivial compared to the effects of continuing to smoke would do to ya.

When you really think about it...the symptoms we all have/had when we quit....were not in fact due to quitting.  They were due to the smoking in the first place.  You have gas/bloating because you were a smoker and  will be relieved once it's all out and  your body returns to it's natural state.......to 40 years ago before the smoking.

Welcome to the quit train!!  Great having you here and Congratulations "BIG TIME" on your beautiful quit.

Congratulations on your quit!

Its funny how quitting affects #2!

But it's scary how smoking affects the entire body!

Hi Tony congratulations on your quit

Yep the body goes into a bit of a tizz, I drank plenty of water and green tea and had no gastro problems maybe you could try that?

Hi tony,

Stomach problems, check! Can you up your fiber intake as it's just your body re adjusting.

You have an amazing quit going already, good job!!

Thanks everyone! I will try the suggestions. My husband quit 3 months ago and I am so proud of him. We have saved a ton of money! I have always wanted a Grandfather clock, so last weekend I bought one at an estate sale with the money we would have spent on cigs. The clock chimes every 15 minutes and every 15 minutes I am proud of what we have accomplished. I am thankful for the reminder and the time we have added to our lives by quitting.

Hi Toni and welcome on board the QT and congratulations on your decision to quit, really looking forward to sharing your journey.  I love the fact that you bought yourself a lovely Grandfather clock and the chimes at 15 minute intervals are a wonderful reminder of how well you are doing.  I suffer from IBS so bloating and gas is a common occurance without addiding the withdrawal from nicotine lol, but think of all the abuse your body has suffered for years its going to take a while for your body, mind and soul to re-adjust, we are all here to help and support you xx

Welcome, Toni!

Congrats on quitting to you and your husband!!!

I didn't have stomach issues, but I know many, many people did. It sounds like something that will pass soon.

Maybe try getting into some exercising or walking.  That might help a bit with the weight gain too.  :)

Welcome, and congratulations!!!! You have made a FABULOUS decision.

This quit I have not experienced the gas problems but on prior quits....wow. It does pass. I like the Queen of Scotland's advice (above) LOL

Hope to see you post a lot, it really helps
