A Conversation About Smoking - Why Do I Need To Read

I used to try to block those things out of my mind...to stay in denial.  Not no more.  I do worry of what I may have already done at times.  But I know that won't do me any good.  I had my lungs checked and for now everything is okay so I will hang onto that.

Hockey is boring me, the Habs are not on TV so, I read your post, Marcus.

I have a thread hanging around, that in the end of it, my conclusion is that one must find the impetus and resolve within themselves to quit and stay that way.

So, I believe like you, that quitting is done personally and intrinsically.

After my attempts to understand nicotine nicotine addiction and nicotine cessation, I do think it "helps". Just like I think, conversing in a forum of fellow ex-smokers, "helps".

Quitting nicotine can be difficult with some of us, and I see no need to not avail oneself of the "help", that is available.

NOW. I know that I can over-think this thing too. I like the response from Stu, to that thread, that went something like, sometimes all that was left was Brute force and Ignorance. I took that to mean, just don't smoke, and the rest of everything else about quitting smoking will look after itself. I don't have to try to dumb-down, that's been given to me. lol!!!

I think though, for some of us, me for sure, need to borrow another slogan from somewhere else and try to practice it with nicotine cessation. That would be, "Easy Does It". That's kinda my mantra now.

Thanks.

Wherever the impetus comes from, the battle is won one minute at a time.

There were times for me when I just could not think about the ins/outs anymore. I was tired. I couldn't tell which voice was mine, which voice was the addiction. At those times, brute force and ignorance kicked in as Mike said. No stress, no hassle, just no smoke.

While the addiction is strong inside and we are weak sometimes even the thought of dying doesn't deter us from lighting the cigarette, it will not happen to me is what I always used to say, denial in its strongest form.  It is only when we become stronger than the addiction itself that we begin to realise smoking kills us we have to fear the nicotine.  NOPE

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
