Hey Caroljo. Welcome Aboard the Quittrain.

Not an e-cig / NRT quitter myself - but every quitter and every quit is unique. Do it your way. There are lots of good resources here - that will help you understand nicotine addiction. Once you understand it - you can beat it.

Congratulations on making the decision to quit!

Hi Caroljo, brilliant decision to switch off cigs. I tried an e cig and found it didn't work out for me but if it works for you then I think that's much better than smoking, I'm a whatever works kinda woman! I think what feels right is right and have known a few people now do the vaping/e cig options and they've got good strong quits!  Looking forward to seeing your posts. x

Hi Caroljo! There are only a few hours between our quits. In these early days, that's a big deal! But in the weeks and months that are coming up, it will not make any difference at all.

Great decision to quit!!!!!!

Hi Carol and welcome on board and congrats on making the best decision ever, quitting the cigs, all our quits are as unique as we are , stay close to the board and read as much as you can and educate yourself on the addiction, you will come to realise that you don't need the nicotine, and quitting isn't as scary as you first thought it was, I have found the wonderful people here so helpful in establishing my quit and knowing that I was never alone in my emotions on this journey so post as often as you can, I have no experience on quitting with E cigs but I have a friend who quit smoking over a year ago and is still using E cigs so please be aware they can be as addictive x

Hi Jackie...yes, I know that e-cigs can also be addictive.  but for right now, it's what I need to get started.  I'm a VERY addictive person, and I've tried everything I can think of to quit (patches, gum, chantix, and even accu puncture!)  Never tried hypnosys.  That freaks me out...Lol!  I know that right now the e-cig is helping me, but I also know I need a plan to get off these also.  There's an engineer that I work with that had to quit quite a while ago, he has COPD and I don't know what else, but he's a mess, and he had to quit.  He is addicted to the gum....he hasn't smoked in I think 2 or 3 years, but he HAS TO have his nicotine gum.  But, at least he's not getting the poison that you get with cigs.  The gum always helped me to, but it drives me nuts because I have dentures and the gum sticks to them!  Lol!

You are not special.

You are no more (or less) addicted than anyone else here.

We are all addicts. Not a one of us is a Very Addict.

Set a date - now, today, as you read this: set a date to be off the e-cigs and stick to it.

The Sarge knows individuals still 5+ years later sucking on the damned things waiting for "when I'm ready ..." .

Take quitting them every bit as seriously as you are taking quitting cigarettes.

me too... I have a friend at 5 years and in the beginning said they were using it to quit and would wean off the ecig.  it has never happened.  it makes me sad.  they are now working on it and set a date in may.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
