[Solved] Gastritis? I'm sure it's not a peptic ulcer yet!

Yep, I had it perpetually (gastritis), when I "drank like a fish". Since then, I've had a "cast iron stomach". It could take anything well, except that hot hot oil, some like with their Mexican food.

I digress ... Anyways, this quit, I've had gastric pain. Even wakes me at night, and I don't need any more nocturnal awakenings, than I have already.

I took a slug of my wife's Gavascon today, and the pain disappeared for 3 hours. The pain is coming back again now, though.

I know no one can diagnose and prescribe here. But, I can for myself.

Anyone, using Pariet, Losec, or even Zantac and having any success with it?

I'm leaning towards the "big-guns", for now.

...

I had the same thing happen when I quit.

I never had a stomach issue until then. I tried every over the counter solution to no avail.

Finally saw my Dr. and he prescribed Omeprazole. It worked.

I'm not sure, but is there an over the counter version of omeprazole?

Of course, seeing your dr. is probably a good thing too.

Hope your'e feeling better soon.

It's crazy we get a ton of problems after we quit?

Thanks, SanDar.

I'm sure, it's tension related to the quit, and everything else in my world.

Good to know, that you had good results with omeprazole. That's Losec.

I called my pharmacist. Omeprazole, is OTC, here. Of course, it's different in each country. I'm going to get some. Once I can coerce doc#1's receptionists to let me talk to him over the phone, I'll get a script, that will cover it's cost from my work health plan. In fairness to the receptionists, they have been instructed to tell all the patients, that they need to come in for scripts. Well, doc#1 doesn't mind with me.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
