There is no free pass just because we quit.

There are no guarantees in life for even the healthiest of people, because when your time is up that's it.

But, quitting does open a lot of doors that were previously closed to a life wrapped around an addictive behavior.

Being free of the addiction is a great feeling, and that's the whole point of quitting, to feel better and live a healthier life.

But, you do gain a certain sense of dignity when you take charge of your life, and if your time/journey/life is cut short, you may have lost the battle, but you have most decidedly won the war.

I will die a non-smoker, of that I have no doubt. I don't have that nagging fear I used to have that there is something gaining on me.

There is nothing to fear anymore.

GTQ,

Markus

This post sure rang a bell for me....

Quiting and saving my two feet has given me my dignity back....

When my time comes...my feet will be with me.....

I know what fear feels like now.....I'm never going back there....

Thanks Markus....for great reminder....never take another puff....

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
