Attention Newbies, Oldies, In Betweenies(1):

I could be at 2 months 3 days smober but I am not because I smoked...Now I am only on day 12.   :(  Don't be like me...don't ever relapse.  This is your forever quit.  You don't want to start over!  NOPE!!

IF YOU HAVE JUST ONE CIGARETTE, YOU'LL BE BACK WHERE YOU STARTED.
WHERE YOU STARTED WAS DESPERATELY WISHING YOU WERE WHERE YOU ARE TODAY.

(1) Wasn't there a poll somewhere?  Did we decide on any names yet?

Scared me!!!! Thank goodness you were referring to your previous relapse.

Day 12 of a forever quit is more significant than 2 months of a temporary break in smoking. :)

Good for you!! :)

So very true Trish. I honestly think the guilt a person feels after a relapse is far worse than those 3-minute cravings. Why work so hard on something to give it up over a temporary craving? Relapses suck. Period. You're back where you started and have to go through Hell/Heck Week all over again. Not fun and I would not recommend it.

The cravings go away. At some point in your quit, you'll even be at a stage where you forget you smoked in the first place. Everyone can do this. Quitting IS possible!

Trish... do yourself a favor... write down 3 short reasons why you want to remain a non-smoker... keep it with you because you will have some craves again... and when you do, pull out that list, remind yourself why you're a non-smoker now.  When I first quit, when I craved I wouldn't remember why I wanted to be non-smoker, that list saved my ash many times.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
