I should say...relapse is not part of the game...anymore.

Relapse is that dreaded word everyone knows well.

In fact, everyone knows it so well that when you tell people

you've quit smoking ...other smokers and nonsmokers say

"Great..." but that's about all...because they've heard

this SO MANY TIMES BEFORE...

I understand that the final quit, the sticky quit...requires

a total rewiring job.

But many aspects of this quit feel  the same

as other quits. Quitting is quitting.

Maybe other people feel like if they relapse they'll just

get back on the train...

I don't feel that way. I feel like this is my last chance. I feel

like I don't have any more quits in me but this one.

Any thoughts on relapse would be welcomed....

I felt like you. It was a last chance thing and I couldn't keep trying.

With regards to your question. Relapse thoughts...

it's a really bad plan, don't do it!!

that shiz will kill ya, literally!!

literally lighting up your finances doesn't sound very sane

neither does putting something near your face and setting it on fire

This was my definite last chance.....

I had to quit....I was facing amputation if I carried on....

I know it was still a choice....I'm so glad I chose wisely....

I wasn't ready to part with my two feet just yet....

I think about you and your story often, Doreen. Hope you're having a great day (evening, I think) in Liverpool!

Love the video clip Markus offered. This is sacred! Think I'll watch it every Sunday for the next year.

Last chance saloon CPK , my biggest fear was/is lung cancer.  Once before my relapse last year I moaned to my friend that I was putting on a hell of a weight and was thinking of smoking again when she told me "Jacks you can lose weight, but you can't lose Cancer" wise words from a very good friend and I keep these in the forefront of my mind, I'm 50 next year and want to start that decade as a non smoker.....so for me its a last chance saloon no more relapses, xx

I was afraid of the same as you Jackie. You have a wise & caring friend. I have been through hell with this Quit & there is no question in my mind: Nope, Nope, Nope....I NEVER WILL SMOKE AGAIN. I want to enjoy my grandkids! NO Relapses for this chickie!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
