That's what I'm fixing to become. I'm going to lean on y'all quite a bit.

I WANT TO QUIT SMOKING !!

I hate this. If you don't want to support me, then please just don't respond. But please don't be hard on me. I don't have a lot of confidence in myself right now and quite frankly, I'm scared to death.

Minute by minute is how I'm gonna take this. And for a while, I might be posting a lot.

Today......I'm not smoking. I will be making a ticker sometime today also.

I think I can do this now. I'm really sick and tired of being stuck in this rut. And I'm the only one that can change it.

Thanks in advance.

I support you!!!!!!!!!!

Please post tiff...every minute if you have to.  I want you to have the taste of sweet freedom we have...you deserve it honey...you really do.  Nothing to be afraid of with quitting smoking...but everything to fear if you don't.  You know this...that's as tough as I get when it comes to "tough love"

Let's do this Chickie!!!!!

Don't give up because you think you will never feel normal and/or alive again.  You have to get through the murk to enjoy the clearer skies.  You can do this.  Take the battles on as they come. Believe in yourself!

I feel like a caged animal.

No where to retreat. To escape this feeling.

Makes one very angry girl.

3 minutes counting down.....over and over

And thank you for the support everyone.

stop trying to escape the feeling....and just feel it.  It's actually not as scary  and/or unbearable as you think.  Running from the feeling is what keeps you Running.

Take deep deep breaths.....that was something that helped me tremendously.

1.  Take 1 deep breath...and hold it for about 10 seconds and blow it out very very slowly through pursed lips.

2. Take a second breath..deep as you can go...and hold it about 15 seconds...same thing--blow it out slow

3.  3rd deep breath...inhale deeply...deeper..deep as you can go...HOLD IT..as long as you can (without passing out lol)....blow it out

That practice right there saved me many times....i told myself it was my "puff"  and it really did satisfy my until the next time.  But, that's what smoking did anyway, right?  It only temporarily alleviated the withdrawals.  The only difference now is...well, deep breaths won't kill ya and the cravings are fewer and far between after a while.  Whereas, when smoking....the cravings get closer together until you are a chain smoking mess.

I did it so often that it became a habit when I would crave or was stressed....the deep breaths came and still to this day I use it to help me with stressful situations.

You are doing great!  One day at a time~One craving at a time.  :)

You've been caged for years. Now that you've quit, the tranquilizer is starting to wear off, and you can feel the bars again. You SHOULD be angry - you have been CAGED!!! Don't fear the anger, embrace it, use it.

You're awake again. And you're getting out.

I'm doing ok.  It's been a little rough in patches but keep waiting 3 minutes.

I have figured out if you look for an excuse to smoke, your always gonna find one.  I have thought "it's raining today and it's so blah, maybe I should quit when it's sunny".  Do you hear the absurdity here ?

and of course, the "just one" to get through this.....I will just smoke one today and then tomorrow, I will not smoke any. Who the freak quits smoking 40 one day and none the next ?

On the way home was the hardest.  I wanted to stop at the store  But I just started singing like Dora on "Nemo" but instead of "just keep swimming", I sang "just keep driving, just keep driving."  I know it sounds gay but it worked.  I made it home.

And now I have pretty much barricaded myself in my room and am watching "The Purge: Anarchy".

There is a sadness about not smoking.  I havent' gotten it through my thick skull that cigarettes do nothing for me.  But I'm going to fix that.  With y'all.  Everytime I feel like I'm getting stupid in my thoughts, then I'm going to just be honest with y'all and I know that I will absorb what y'all tell me. I'm tired of smoking.

I love this last post Tiff! You are 'embracing the suck.'

We all had to work to reprogram our minds bc of that doggone junkie, and sadly a puff can take us back to square one. So this totally makes sense what you are feeling right now. Just stay strong and start tomorrow morning saying to yourself, "yippee! I'm a non smoker!" I had to do that all the time at first, bc I was a wake up and head outside with the dogs and the cig kind of person. Saying that to myself helped me try and focus on the positive.

atta girl!!

a thought is not a command to smoke...it can't hurt you.  Really, the amount of time you suffer is totally up to you.  You can tell that thought "thanks but no thanks" and be over it as quick as it came...and come out stronger

or....

you can take it...run with it, roll around in the mud, wrestle it, fight it...struggle with it....and ultimately feeling defeated.

You are on the right track, my friend!
