Why is she going through tests Ross?

Recently, she has been drinking more water than I have! The vet thinks she has diabetes; waiting on test results :(

Yes, she has got it... Got to go back Wednesday to talk about what happens next :(

Yes, diabetes in cats is very common. But it can be well-controlled. If she needs insulin, be sure to ask about the insulin pen where you just dial in the correct dose. Much, much easier on the human and the cat.

Good for you for noticing her change in behavior and getting it checked out. I'm sure that she will be just fine because of your quick action.

Thanks Chrys... I'm sure I will find out about the insulin pen on Wednesday! I'm sure that she only just stared drinking a lot within the last 2 weeks - one of the benefits of having a cat that stays inside :)

Hoping that we can control the insulin, and she will be able to continue to lead a happy life... Even though she has to go on a diet (she is very particular with her food!).

Ross, what did the vet say about Bobbie's diabetes? Can it be treated?

Thanks for asking Chrys - we are trying to treat it, yes. She's been having 2 daily shots since Thursday, and she goes back in next Friday for blood work... We need to find the correct dosage, and apparently the only way to do that is start small, and work our way upwards. I'm still getting used to giving the shotsysrlf, and hopefully I will get a lot better, because I'm not great at the moment! She seems fairly happy though, and is still eating and drinking, so that's a positive!

Blood tests every week while you get the dosage titrated is not going to be fun for either you or Bobbie!  :( But hopefully, things will stabilize soon and everybody will adjust easily. You're a good cat daddy!
