Juan- I think most of us here thought we were that special case that couldn't quit - but you know what we did it! For me - it was definitely changing my mind set - but in the beginning it really was one day at a time. I remember seeing peoples tickers on here and reading 1 month or 3 months and thinking if only! But it does happen- and the support from these boards was a major factor in that. Remember - we all believe in you so you need to as well- but for now just promise not to smoke today - tomorrow you can make that same promise!

What is the affirmation post?

Get mad Juan. Get mad at cigarettes! Next time you have a crave, remember how angry you were to loose that quit. Tell those cigarettes no way am i doing that again.

Juan,

You need to take ownership of your quit and of your health.  Nobody is going to turn you away if you relapse once a year, once a month or once a week.  However, if what you did last time didn't work, it's time to try something different.  Start with the pledge.  Every morning before leaving your house, make the pledge.  It is a promise to yourself, not to us.  Sometimes, just typing that pledge can make all the difference.

Another thing, some people can quit and check in here once in a while and they are fine.  Others, need the support of the board even if they are not actively struggling.  Just hanging out here whenever you have a few minutes, reading posts & responding to posts or playing games in social.  I was like that when I quit and I suspect you may be as well.

Give it a shot Juan, this can be your sticky quit.  If you need to lean on someone...there are 94 and counting people here willing to back you up day or night.

Juan you have to believe in your quit, take it a day a time if you need too, the only way you will fail is if you allow yourself too, but if you feel any doubt at all, you come here and you post and you read the replies, thats what got me through all the early days, coming here and reading, reading and educating myself, the crave will not last long, fill your mind with anything except the crave and you will get through it .

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
