Two sad stories about smoking in Australia

I had a couple of really positive reinforcements to my quit today that I had to share .

Most of you know how expensive smoking here in Oz is BUT today at the super market I was behind a lady who bought 2 cartons of cigs ( think 200 cigs per carton) of the really cheap nasty cigs and the price - a bargain at $270 Aus ! To make it worse feel free to check out our exchange rate and you will see why you don't want to be a smoker visiting Oz !

We are also pretty strict with where you can smoke - andwhilst I know I could find a way to smoke most places I had my limits ( a girl has got to have some class :-) ! But on my way to the gym today I met my match. Yep - I accept proper hair colour is important - but if you are getting your hair coloured in a trendy arcade in a city - accept you can't smoke ! DO NOT walk down the arcade onto a major street with foils and a wet towel on you hair and expect respect from the passing public !! Just say'n !!

End rant :-)

WTH !!! Thats a $105 U.S. a carton. ... I remember saying that I would quit when it got to a dollar a pack.

Oh well, an addicted fool and his money. I was such a dumb ass. Much more so than now  :)

Our local government just approved a $3 per pack tax increase.  That means a carton of the cigs I used to smoke will cost $127.

Strolling with foils and a fag, unreal.

OMG no way, I can't justify spending £4.07 on 10 cigs in the UK,  but I have a friend who went back to smoking after a year off, has no intention of ever stopping again, is a student can hardly afford to pay gas and electric yet always finds the money for fags, I just throw my hands up, another reason to definitely quit, money for nice things, just saying  :) xxx

Ha, My dad would have a stroke if he had to pay todays prices. He quit smoking because cigarettes went from 20 to 25 cents a pack and he thought that price was outrageous.

This all happened in that early 1970's

I used to smoke outside my hairdresser with hair dye and tin foil in the black gown. :0'i didn't give a crap. ......I remember going with my grand mother to the hairdresser when I was a girl and all the ladies were getting their weekly wash and comb out while smoking up a storm inside. I couldn't breathe.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
